Can I use DVD+R type for DVD-A using Solo?

I have already done the search on DVD+R with no results. I am trying to find out if any of you have been successful in creating your DVD Audio for your TL's using DVD+R type. I am trying this using Cirlinca Solo. Is there any setting in this software which I am missing while using DVD+R to create DVD-A.

I believe there were a few that were successful using +R media, but the the success rate of those using -R media was even greater. Have you read the posts on this thread? I believe there were some comments regarding media.

to me it sounds like you're getting DVD-A mixed up with media formats....DVD-A is not a media format; it's a disc format (or structure)...like DVD-Video, MP3 CD, and data discs are disc formats...you can make a DVD-A disc using a +R type media, but like Hawhyen51 said, the majority of us have had better success with -R media (+R media didn't work for me, but i've had 100% success with -R)...

I burned a DVD-A using DVD+R media just a little while ago. It was in that thread and some member posted something about bitsetting/book types, so I looked into it online. Basically you have to tell your DVD burner to burn all DVD+R media in a DVD-ROM format. I can try to help you if your Google searches don't work out, just tell me your DVD burner model and firmware. I had just bought a 100-pack of DVD+R, so I wasn't up for buying DVD-R's too. It is definitely possible.

DVD+R or +RW discs simply don't work in my '06 TL. I tried different brands until I realized this. Not for Audio and not for navigation hack purposes. DVD-R and -RW work fine.

DVD+R didn't seem to work for the navigation hack by the way. I don't know if this is because of a mis-burn (doubtfully because my book type is set to DVD-ROM and I tried twice), or more likely because the navigation DVD drive just doesn't like it.

Hi rahulkumar,

I am in the same boat where I bought 100 pack DVD+R and I already wasted trying to use Solo DVD-A burner. I have this _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6650A and how do i tell my DVD burner to burn all DVD+R media in a DVD-ROM format ?

Guys I really appreciate this is an awesome forum for TL newbie.

Thank you

It would be helpful if you posted the year of your TL when posting comments like these. Newer models may have better luck with DVD media types since there was a head unit update for 07.

I have an 04
No Go:
DVD+R
DVD+RW

Good:
DVD+R DL
DVD-R
DVD-RW

This just sends home the fact that it is high time to dump CD and DVD media in favor of solid state storage. Disks are so temporary and a pain in the ass to sort through while driving.
