Has anyone replaced there factory Sub with a after market sub. I was looking at an 8' JL to replace the current sub but im not sure if it will fit or do i have to just put a box in the back. Also if anyone has anypics of their own configuration please post.

The sub will not fit you have to cut the lower part of the deck to make it fit. You only have 3.375" mounting depth. I've only come across one sub that'll fit without modifications

I have never heard the sound of THAT sub, but i have heard the 10 and 12 inch version and they make a good sounding and quality product.

I would sway away from replacing the factory sub, just not enough power coming from the factory amp, but it is a low cost solution. You might be better off getting a REALL EFFICIENT 6.5" woofer. There are a few companies that make these.. That would probably be a better idea.

Focal makes a really good one. Not too bad price wise either..

I would replace the sub but if you're going to replace the factory sub your going to need an aftermarket amp to drive it.

You don't necessarily NEED an amp to drive it. That would be an ideal situation though. But it will be hard to find a sub or woofer that will fit there that is AS efficient as the one already there. So it might not sound LOUDER but it will sound BETTER.

I need a link where to buy a sub to run off the oem amp that will fit with no cutting of anything. It needs to provide the best bass and cost eifficent...any ideas?

to be honest, the sound that you get by running the factory amp and replacing the stock sub with an after market sub wont really be satisfying.

The factory amp simply wont put out enough juice to give you the base you desire.

I ran an after market amp and an after market sub, and kept the factory sub and amp as well.

i placed the after market amp under the passenger seat, completely hidden, and a 10" sub in a sealed box in the trunk.

I was able to get the signal wire from the factory sub and used a high-low converter to connect the RC wires to the amp.

this allowed me to be able to control the factory sub and the after market sub with the factory head unit. I turn the base to -6, tereble to +4, and the subwoofer to -6 to +6 based on if i want more base out of the subs or not..

hope this helped..

Agreed. Same here. I have a small amp and single 10, and it sounds so much better.

I would not suggest running an aftermarket sub of the factory amp...it would be more work to correctly IB a sub in the rear deck than it would to just get a custom enclosure built.

how about another vehicles stock sub?

I found a Slimmer 8in sub from the maxima I believe on eBay. 100watts RMS and 1ohm ...looks about the same.... anyone know if this would work. Just looking to replace not really upgrade....wondering if this speaker would be slightly better than the stock tl
