Bluetooth not re-connecting after return

Has anyone had an experience where their handset does not always re-connect to the HFL when they return to the car?

It would be fine when I disable the bluetooth on the handset, and then enable it again although that's not always convenient.

Last night when I returned to my car, I had an incoming call and the HFL started ringing, but when I tried to answer it with the HFL it says no phone has been found, haha.. weird.

Any ideas?

Phone "car settings": set Auto Answer to "Off" and Auto Hands-free to "on"

Hope that solves the issue.

Thanks for the tips Will. I really appreciate it.

I will try it tonight when my car comes back from the dealership and will post back results.

Cheers.

Hey Will.. quick question... where exactly are these settings? Instinctively, I thought you were referring to the settings within the HFL system but found out tonight that they weren't there... my device doesnt have car specific settings and I am assuming the auto hands-free would be ideal for the HFL system when re-approaching the car..

Im running Winmo on an HTC TP2. I found out tonight that there was another HTC device in the device list (from previous owner) so I deleted it.. I have yet to see if that changes anything but I hope it does..

I was referring to the settings or set-up profile on the phone itself, not anything on the car.

BTW, have you confirmed that the HFL system was tested and will work with the HTC TP2?
If not, check the acura.com website for the HFL minisite.
If the phone is not compatible with the HFL, errors like those you described can arise.

Thanks Will. Last time I checked, the TP was listed as a compatible handset. The TP and TP2 both run the same windows version and even have the same bluetooth radio. I will check again to see if it was added recently, it's a new device so I can understand if it isn't there yet.

Thanks again for the information. Have a good one.

I just want to update this thread... since I removed the other HTC handset that was listed as a device in the HFL system.. my re-connecting problem has subsided.

So if anyone is trying to pair two HTCs to this the HFL.. you may experience some bugs.

Hope this helps someone, cheers.

This sucks but the problem seemed to occur again.. its random.. sometimes it will re-pair sometimes it won't. Same as before.. still trying to work it out..

Oracle, what kind of phone are you using and what was/is your issue?

I have notice that with my Blackberry Pearl. On occasion I must manually connect using the prompt on the phone itself. Not sure why this happens, just feeling your pain.

Are you sure that your phone's bluetooth doesn't turn itself off after a set amount of time? I have an older HTC phone, that always turns the bluetooth off. I have to manually turn on bluetooth to pair every day...so annoying (can't wait to get a new phone for this reason).

No, the bluetooth on the phone is always active unless I turn it off. Occasionally I have to manually connect it through the phone. Tech glitch I guess

Yeah my bluetooth is always on as well.. when this happens to me (when it doesn't re-connect after going away and coming back) I need to disable/enable the my bluetooth on the handset and it will connect again.

Im guessing for sure its coming from the phone.. im hoping this too :p

Anything news on this? Happening with my iPhone. I am suspecting it's the weak/faulty capacitor not producing enough energy for the BT signal. Happens when the car is in the heat/sun for too long. This is consistent with the problem by other members.
