blown factory sub
So I'm in my car listening to some music and then out of nowhere the back of the car sounds like crap. I turn down the radio and it disappears... so I think to myself, okay something's wrong with the speakers. I go into the audio controls and turn off the sub, and sure enough it went away. I blew my subwoofer.
The question is, I know it's not covered under warranty, so how much would it be to replace it? Would it be worth getting another of the same sub, or should I upgrade?
Ideas?
Thanks!

Yah, you didnt modify it in any way. Also, if you replace it, and use the same box, try to use something with a metal cone. They sound better and are much more durable for abvious reasons. You may want to do that anyway, you wouldnt have to worry about blowing another one.
What exactly happens whena speaker is blown? Does it tare, does the coil fry????

haha - i know i shouldn't let people feel my music... but i feel sometimes i can't quite hear it - maybe because it's always too loud? hmm, maybe my mom was right about loud music...
You're right, I didn't modify it, which would mean *I* didn't break it
....anyways I called the dealership and they want to look at it before they replace it. they think it might be some loose clips or something... i explained to the guy that i doubt it's a clip, but i'll do whatever he wants to because it sounds like they were going to replace it.
I might luck out on this one with the good ol' warranty

Man in a 2004? Wonder how many people have encountered this issue? I have been cranking it up for the past 5 years in my 2000TL and everything is still cool.
