Best iPod integration solution

I have read many of the threads on the site and now it appears I am more confused the. When I started.

I want to get an iPod/iphone integration with my 06 TL with navigation.

I have XM and don't want to lose it.
I want to see and sort my iPod songs via my nav display.

I was thinking the isimple since I can buy it and get it installed at bestbuy but I have seen a few threads that it is glitchy.

I have 2 iSimples and they are OK. I liked it enough to buy a second one. Once you learn how to use it, then they work pretty well. Since it uses the stock buttons, they are not intuitive at first. If you are expecting something natural like what Apple might come out with where most people can be a whiz in about a minute, this is not it.

One thing that I really like about it is that you can navigate from where you are on your iPod - you don't have to start over every time from the root.

You won't lose the XM.

You might ask for opinions of the iSimple from people who have used it for a while. I was really frustrated with mine for about a week. After a 15 minute tutorial with my wife, she is a whiz. I saw a lot of negative posts from people who had it like 2 days, which is not too fair of a critique.

Cool thanks! Does it mute if a call comes into the phone connected to the Acura hands free Bluetooth?

Yes, if I am using an iPod. Sometimes if I have it hooked up to the iPhone... sometimes not.

I'd give the same review for the USA-Spec that jda123 gave for the iSimple. It does mute the music when a call comes in on my iPhone while my iPhone is plugged in to the integration. Installation was easy and it does the job.

Agreed. Here's a USA-Spec install thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/i-160-usa-spec-install-633080/

Are you sure? All the DIY threads I've read indicate that you will lose XM since the iSimple takes over the XM/Aux feeds.

Yes, I am sure - at least on the iSimple on my 2004 and 2006. Once you switch over with the XM button, you have about 4-5 seconds to switch back and forth between the IPod, Aux Input (on the iSimple) or the XM. Again, this took me about a week to figure out, but it is easy now.

Interesting. So how do you switch back and forth between sources...just keep pushing the XM/Aux button? Then what happens after 4-5 seconds?

To switch the source, you hit the XM button and turn the right knob to select your source. Whatever source is there after the 4-5 seconds is what you have. After the 4 or 5 seconds, you have control of the iPod, XM or whatever you selected.

If you are in the XM and want the iPod, you have to exit to FM or CD and come back in with the XM button and do the 4-5 second thing again.
