I am looking for a good holster or dock for my iPhone that allows me to see the phone while driving. I had an idea of creating something that slid into the tape deck, but I have no idea how I would put it together. Any reccomendations?

^^ that thing is soo boss. saw it on youtube. why dont you just buy a rubber case and leave it ontop of the sliding door for the cup holders. never liked mounted phones I feel like they would be too much of a distraction unless you are using it for navi.

 

Yeah, I never liked mounted phone either, but with my new 4s I want something where i can easily see the screen and don't have to look down away from the road while using Siri. Safety first guys! Ha ha! I never had this issue when I was regularly texting with my regular iPhone 4.

I am really happy with this cradle and mount and think it's the best out there.

I use a iSimple Gateway to charge and play my music through the car speakers. The iSimple also alows you to change the tracks forward or backwards using your steering wheel radio controls.

It's all pretty expensive but I got the iSimple for $75 when Circuit City was closing down. I also found the pro.fit VSM on amazon for $12.14 compared to $49.95 on the pro.fit website.

I swear by it. It's awesome. Even if you don't use it as a tape player, you can use it to just dock on there. Always get compliments on it.

 

I know it's an old post. But which iphone did you have? And how was the sound quality like?
