anyone using this radar mount?

i was just wondering if anyone is using this to mount their radar detector?

http://www.countryjoycrafts.com/Conn...arDetector.htm

i was looking to either relocate my current detector or buy a new one and place it near the rear view mirror. thought this would be a good way to mount it but wasnt sure, without measuring, if this would work.

also, if anyone knows. i have a beltronics express 936 with the older style circle power outlet, i was just wondering if beltronics changed the mounting bracket since this model???? i got rid of my suction cup mount and was wondering if i bought a new one if it would work with my detector?

I looked at them, but came to the conclusion that they won't fit (04).

I bought one a couple months ago and it DOES NOT fit because the bracket is too thick so it won't fit between the mirror and the pivot ball. I used the mount in our Honda Pilot but found that it vibrates the detector on any rough surface or offroad. I wound up gluing a radar mount (minus suction cups) to both my car Windshields up high along the tint strip is ideal. The detector is high so it's not obvious to most people you have a detector, you also don't need the remote cable controller because its easier to hit the mute button on the unit than fumbling around for the remote switch.

I have been very happy with this setup. I keep cars for >5 years so I'm not worried about the permanent nature of the glue solution. The mounts are tiny for the Escort/Bel units so it's not very noticeable when the unit is not present. I added to another thread a while back with pictures in this subforum- do a search and you'll see the type of glue I used and how it looks.

I got the standard mount- maybe the mini may work better. I suggest getting some Calipers and measuring your thickness and calling them. Even if it did fit, I like my current better since it's less visible to people and doesn't shake. If you get one and have success, please let us all know!

so i decided to try the mini model, so here ya go. it wasnt a perfect fit, i had to use two layers of some rubber tubing in order to make it a tight fit, but it worked great.

and this is where i decided to put the remote for the navigation. easy to reach but out of the way.

Looks good.

Looks like the perfect position for a detector too.

1/2 conduit clamp, a solid duplex wall plate, a can of black paint and 4 nuts and bolt worked just fine for me. Lot cleaner install and V1 face is flush with mirror.

thanks. yeah, my goal was to get it located in the best place possible. previously i had it located on my dash, but i knew it should be higher up in order to see farther as well as behind me.

i have only had it on for a day now, but after a short drive yesterday and my 40min drive to work this morning all seems to be good. it vibrates a little on crappy or dirt roads, but it is due to the connection between the detector and the mount, not the mount and the mirror. also, because it sits in my peripheral vision instead of right in front of me so it is a lot less distracting.
