Yes, that is exactly what I used to always do. If I was riding with my wife, I would always ask her to mess with it, lol. But now, I have the DICE R4-Silver unit installed, and I can use the steering wheel controls, Navi touchscreen, or even voice commands to control my ipod!

There is also the USASpec unit available, along with a Blizsafe unit, perhaps. But with the Blitzsafe, you will be in the same predicament you are currently in, unless you find a readily accessible location to have the ipod cradle come out of.

Why don't you just run the cord out of the arm rest compartment and leave the iPod near the shifter on top of the cup-holder cover. Most to cords are thin enough to do this without having to notch the tray inside the arm rest.

^^

That's what we do. Sits nicely on the cup holder cover.

I'm sure some industrious and creative soul has taken this route and crafted some kind of i-Pod hoder/mount to make it even more convenient (without the addition of an after market solution).

The wire you have doesnt fit through the hole in the top tray?

The wire I have for my ipod runs from the jack up through the hole in the bottom of the top tray and then out the hole on the front of the top tray and ipod sits in or on top of cup holders. I dont have a problem with this.

Unless the dice would let you scroll through albums I wouldnt get it.

Check out this thread. I have a posting there with a pic of a little wireless remote that I used before installing a DICE unit.

https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/priorities-156234/

I am not using that remote anymore, if anyone is interested pm me.
