That remark threw me when I read it because it didn't make any sense, so the question was dying to be asked. At least we now know the unit and the Y cable works and is a much more inexpensive option than Acura's solution. BTW, my post on the other thread can be totally disregarded.

I have this same problem too but its solved by hitting the Disc Up button once or twice. I've noticed that the iPod may become stuck in Pause but if you hit play on the iPod it comes right back.

So you can just hit play/pause on the HU to unpause?

Thanks Jaymd123 for answering all my questions regarding this install and thanks rbf351 for sharing the tip on how to remove the silver trim. I finally installed the USASpec ipod interface today. It was my second run as I installed the same thing on my 350Z yesterday since it was easier. I've never taken apart a car so I want to let all rookies know this is doable. Just make sure you read all the related threads.

[ When both iPod and XM radio are installed: some vehicles – when listening to the satellite radio may experience interference, you will need to disconnect the SAT connection as there is currently no solution for resolving the interference problem.]

thats what discount stereo says...anyone experience this?

I originally ordered from discountcarstereo until iamthebert suggested enfigcarstereo. Turns out it is also on back order at enfigcarstereo. The rep. said it should be in stock by the end of the week. I will stick with enfig since they are located in Jersey and i'm in the bronx. Seems like this product is very hot, It is out of stock everywhere.

Thanks, it helps most of the times. This problem is not limited to misbahving source switching, I saw more bizzare manifistations. Few times the head unit didn't come on until I turned on navi screen, after switching away from XM, the top display still showed the channel name, sometimes the same dispay didn't show colume adjustments. I haven't spent enough time in the car to figure out the exact logic and conditions of these events, but it my guess is that this adaptor is not fully compatible with Honda GA-NETII bus and it somehow screws up the whole system. To a degree, I expected that this adaptor will have issues. Few weeks ago zax123 asked me why I am buying the more expensive Music Link when aftermarket adaptors are available, I answered that the factory solution will not have compatibility issues, and the risk is higher with aftermarket unit. This is exactly what happened. I still think that USA-Spec adaptor is a good buy and prefer it over the very limited Music Link.
Any news on the official TL certification, so we could start complaining?

Looks like I was lucky snapping one of the last units Their shipping was very good- ordered UPS ground, received in about 20 hours.

I have a Blitzsafe adapter and sometimes the top volume display doesn't show. But I don't really care, it always shows on the Navi display while adjusting. The Blitzsafe has excellent sound and basically just provides an AUX in to the head unit. I use a bunch of other devices to actually generate the sound (Drive+Play for example)...

I haven't seen the issue with the headunit coming on but did see the other issues with volume and source being stuck on the display. It's strange, sometimes it will display CDC and volume will work fine, other times it gets stuck. But like you said, even with its quirks I still prefer this over spending the extra loot on the MusicLink. I haven't started to complain yet, I'll need to look back to the original thread where someone got in touch with USA-Spec and they said they were going to begin testing on the TL.

After playing with the adaptor a little more, I think that it takes a long time to boot- about as long as the navi. After it boots the radio turns on. Looks like that boot tome is affected by whether or not radio was turned off before the car or iPod was disconnected while the car was off. But overall- no serious issues. May be on weekend I will record uncompressed wav files on iPod from a CD recoreded by a good engineer (Alan Parsons is my favorite) and evaluate sound quality as compared with the original CD palying in the head unit.

Sat is a low quality audio source and you have to pay for it.

i think o&a is hilarious...jim norton and patrice o'neal are great...prob with sirius is they will be out of service in a year or two...how does howard get 500 million and oprah only get 55 million...when oprah is a media powerhouse and howard can't compete with viewers

I conducted some listening tests. iPod doesn't sound as good as a CD, mostly on the top end of the spectrum. I took iPod back home and hooked it up to my stereo system. Again it sounded worse than CD. For now I conclude that any degradation of quality cannot be blamed on the USA-Spec adaptor.

Compaing Oprah to Howard is like comparing Apples to Oranges. Howard is THE voice of radio where Oprah is from TV Land. Also, Oprah is only working 30 hours for this $55 million deal over the course of a year!! Someone just quit from the XM board of directors due to the horrible deals they are making and their terrible marketing. I'm not gonna make any bold statements like XM is going under, but they are definitley stagnating.

Stupid question

So this thing plugs into the XM port. Does that mean the Ipod and the Aux in are active when you press the XM button? And the CD player (and all 6 discs) will continue to function if you press the CD button?

14 Pin connector is not relly an XM port. It is a bus which can handle multiple devices, and iPod takes a place of an external CD changer. You press CD/DVD button to switch to iPod
