Thanks Jaymd123 for answering all my questions regarding this install and thanks rbf351 for sharing the tip on how to remove the silver trim. I finally installed the USASpec ipod interface today. It was my second run as I installed the same thing on my 350Z yesterday since it was easier. I've never taken apart a car so I want to let all rookies know this is doable. Just make sure you read all the related threads.

[ When both iPod and XM radio are installed: some vehicles – when listening to the satellite radio may experience interference, you will need to disconnect the SAT connection as there is currently no solution for resolving the interference problem.]
thats what discount stereo says...anyone experience this?

Any news on the official TL certification, so we could start complaining?
Looks like I was lucky snapping one of the last units Their shipping was very good- ordered UPS ground, received in about 20 hours.

I have a Blitzsafe adapter and sometimes the top volume display doesn't show. But I don't really care, it always shows on the Navi display while adjusting. The Blitzsafe has excellent sound and basically just provides an AUX in to the head unit. I use a bunch of other devices to actually generate the sound (Drive+Play for example)...

Few times the head unit didn't come on until I turned on navi screen, after switching away from XM, the top display still showed the channel name, sometimes the same dispay didn't show colume adjustments. I haven't spent enough time in the car to figure out the exact logic and conditions of these events, but it my guess is that this adaptor is not fully compatible with Honda GA-NETII bus and it somehow screws up the whole system. To a degree, I expected that this adaptor will have issues. Few weeks ago zax123 asked me why I am buying the more expensive Music Link when aftermarket adaptors are available, I answered that the factory solution will not have compatibility issues, and the risk is higher with aftermarket unit. This is exactly what happened. I still think that USA-Spec adaptor is a good buy and prefer it over the very limited Music Link.

I conducted some listening tests. iPod doesn't sound as good as a CD, mostly on the top end of the spectrum. I took iPod back home and hooked it up to my stereo system. Again it sounded worse than CD. For now I conclude that any degradation of quality cannot be blamed on the USA-Spec adaptor.

Stupid question
So this thing plugs into the XM port. Does that mean the Ipod and the Aux in are active when you press the XM button? And the CD player (and all 6 discs) will continue to function if you press the CD button?

14 Pin connector is not relly an XM port. It is a bus which can handle multiple devices, and iPod takes a place of an external CD changer. You press CD/DVD button to switch to iPod
