Question Aftermarket woofer possible for 07 TLS?

Recently I bought a 2007 TLS, and I was satisfied with most of the car except the factory audio system. So I figured that I would just replace the factory with JL audio. WRONG!!! Acura told me (after I spent over $4000 on a new system) that it would not be possible due to the active noise cancellation feature on the TLS. Does anybody have a solution to this? Or am I really just S.O.L.......

Help! I don't want to get rid of my TLS but its starting to look like an option

If I recall correctly, I think you can just unplug the microphone in the back so there's no feedback.

Smile Finally!

Thanks, I've been reading through prior posts to find if anyone has had similar problems and I found one and it sounds exactally like the problems I am having.....

[The noise cancelling uses the factory sub woofer and other speakers to accomplish the actual "cancelling" so the cancelling effect is multiplied like 10x when using an aftermarket sub woofer...

I called JL audio and spoke with their tech support. He said I had to disable it, and instructed me how to do it.

You have to remove the plastic trip by the front dome light, and unplug the SMALL microphone. The two large slots are for the voice recognition system, which wont be affected. There's also a SECOND microphone behind the dome light in the rear of the car.

Once they're disconnected, problem solved. It's easy to reverse as well.]

Thanks for the reply, this has been a very frustrating for me

I don't think so, just the 07 TL Type-S and the RL have the ANC

I believe the standard 07 TL also has some Automatic Noise Cancellation which can be adjusted with the control panel on the Navi. It can be minimized which might help, but, sounds like the microphone disconnect did the trick.

Just an update....To put an aftermarket system in the Type-S you have to disconnect the front microphone and a rear microphone then disconnect a grey box I forgot what it is called......but it is possible! Don't let Acura tell you its not!
