Aftermarket system

So last night i put in my new radio, realized we have a factory amp and then was thinking of ways to bypass it and connect straight to the amp in the stereo. Contacted an audio store and they said that the stock speakers connected to the stereos amp would burn out the amp rather fast and from the sounds of it i would have to get everything replaced AND wire new wire to bypass the amp as well. Any advice? I'm not THAT tech handy with this type of thing and i wonder if that really needs to be done

Study these boards and ask quiestions. Because you surely wont find any real answers on social media.

You aren't tech handy and you are trying to do a stereo install on your own without doing any homework first? I mean who installs a new headunit without already researching that there is a factory amp that must be dealt with?

I mean if you don't want to do heavy research and don't feel like paying a shop, then at least go onto Crutchfield and buy their harnesses that simplify a lot of things....assuming they still make them for this car.

I did research but somehow passed by the factory amp subject. But after a little more searching i found a place that sells a harness for it, crutchfield didn't have any and most of the places i called to do it for me didn't understand much about this system for some reason either because i got like 4 different answers when asking the same question to these shops.

assuming you had a wiring harness to connect the new headunit wiring to oem adapter. My experience with running pre-amp from headunit to oem amp..makes the audio that comes out of the speaker extra loud bc it's getting amped twice. I ended up bypassing the oem amp for the speakers (keeping it for the oem sub). To bypass the oem amp, i simply find the input and output wire and bridge them together, by passing the amp in the middle. I think the oem speakers will be just fine, but if you have aftermarket headunit, it would make sense to throw in some upgraded speakers to take advantage.

Well i found a place that sold a harness to keep the factory amp and it acutally isn't over loud, but there's also an rca for the factory sub that must be touching something because every now and then i hear it turn on for a few seconds. And also the front right speaker is buzzing, once i turn up the radio i don't hear it anymore but i would like to find a solution to that

You should probably contact Mobile Max Car Audio to see if they can get you set with all the harnesses you need. They seem to know a lot about the 3G TL system.
