Audio Questions

Hey everyone, after removing my old system, what was left of it after my break-ins, I have been bone stock for a few months now. I got a deal that I could not pass up on a system, all new but since I am buying from an outfit that does not install I was told to find my own installer, or do it my self.

I have decided to do everything myself, all the install including building the box for my woofer. My father, a pretty experienced electrican told me that he would help me out, but i was wondering if there was any websites that go into detail on how to run the wiring for amps and subs... (Unfortunately my old wiring was removed when i went back to stock, bad move).

Also, I was told by the quy who sold me all this stuff that I need to take out the factory Amp. First, I was not even aware that our cars had an amp, I thought it was all through the deck. Second, if we do have an amp, do I need to remove it, or how does that work? My new amp is a Rockford Fosgate 900w 301X if that makes any difference...

Last question is, does anyone have the Hornet 554T Alarm system? If so is it a good system, is $235 (new) a good price, and how much was install on it?

Any input would be greatly appreciated

I have the 554T and love it. THe two way LCD remote and remote start are great. Just make sure the antenna is not near metal.

As far as the audio goes, you have your work cut out for you with our cars. Are you connecting the door and rar deck speakers to the amp or new headunit? Is that amp just for the sub? Are you getting a new headunit, or just adding a sub?

There is an amp in the trunk behind the carpet on the right side near the tail light. If you are connecting a new headunit, and/or powqering the door and rear speakers with an amp, you have two options, 1) just bypass the amp, at the amp and connect the wires coming from the radio to the amp to the wires going to the speakers out the other side of the amp if your going to power them from the headunit alone. Or 2) run new wires from the new amp, to the output wires of the factory amp if you are putting in a new amp to run them.
