Eal,

NOWAY am I knockin Macintosh.. They make REALLY AMAZING stuff.. I mean top notch.. I just didnt wanna pay the top dollar here, as there are not many dealers here and they charge a Premium for it. I love their stuff, but for a really powerful amp here cost more than Zapco, another brand I LOVE, but can't afford their comp stuff.

Love the setup, but i couldnt deal with calling Acuracare all the time if I broke down.. I love having access to the spare if needed. Plus I do the beach thing ALOT, so sand all over my subs is a NO NO... with the box it doesn't get like that.

Ported are def NOT as accurate, but I am into SQ for my highs and mids not subs.. although that probably doesnt make sense I know... just me. I LOVE the pounding of the bass but I need the highs to be right on.... AND LOUD..

Ported def takes up much more room, but I was ok with that as long as i had the spare.. plus.... i didn't wanna have them face the seats and not breathe or hear them.. and i didn't want to face the back as I know it would rattle like a mother..... 800W going to each sub can make a car rattle to all hell... no thanks.. with the port there is NOT A SINGLE RATTLE, well except for the change in my console.

i hope you know that road side assistance won't tow your car to your house but will tow it to the nearest dealer. when one of my tires blew 2 weeks ago, i called and they said that they will only cover towing to the dealer. unfortunately, the incident occured after 9pm and the dealer was closed. had to use AAA to get it towed to my house. my coverage only gave me 7 miles of free towing so i had to pay another $80 to cover the rest.

can anyone verify the towing coverage from TLC? maybe i just got a stupid rep

also, is it possible, eal15, for pics under the sub/box maybe. i really like that setup. right now this is how my trunk looks...

i can open my spare compartment halfway but there's not much room

agreed, i can cover everything. the guy who did this for me coverted and recarpeted the stock spare tire cover. i will take pics of that as well. in fact he only had to carpet it black to match the install it fits like it was made for that purpose. the amp, plexi and subs are completely protected. you'll see what i mean when i post the pics. maybe friday. i'm at work and i don't drive the good car here.

On the topic of capacitors .... get a quality battery first. I am suggesting an Optima yellow top. A capacitor is a band aid in most situations.

On the topic of McIntosh amps, the home equipment is top notch and the car stuff is good, but not great. I've own the MC4600 and I liked it, but for the price I would get a JL Audio "slash" series or Phoenix Gold Titanium series for starters. You just don't really miss anything with these amps. In fact the X-over is much superior. Not try to start a debate, I am just providing my input.

So we talked and talked and talked and i decided on two 12' w3v2 with a 1200watt audibahn amp with leik two fans and temp display or sumin and a compasator(however it is spelled) and a mtx box with one thing not two or sumin that it will only be liek 4 ohms not 8. Now my question is did i make a good choice or should i have gone with the one 10' w7 COMMENTS PLEASE
dont get them..get a 10 inch W7 with a 500/1 or even a 1000/1 and set ur gains right..look at the pics..i have all of the subs ur looking for.W7..w6v2/s3v2/and w6 and RE XXX...my friend owns car audio shop..so i know whats good...the 12 inch w3v2 are good subs..but now days..there not as good as the W7..amazing subs..u will not be disspointed..one 10 w7 will out bump the w3's..and far as caps..there useless..just get a yellow top or red top battery and hook it up seperatly in ur trunk..BTW how much they said for a 12 inch w3??look at black market section i listed some SUBS....

Hey those look like the new 2005 Type R subs. So how do you like them so far?? I bet they pound pretty hard and tight. So do you have any rattle issue especially when your sub is facing the back trunk?

ya all my speakers and the sub are type r and they are all the 2005 model. i love the setup. in fact my neighbor caught me yesterday pulling in the driveway. i have my volume up to 15 and he says that he can hear me coming down the street. not only that but it sounds so clear. i ask if he heard the trunk rattle and he says he noticed it but it was very low. he had to focus on try to hear the rattle to notice it. i haven't mounted the sub yet coz i haven't decided whether to keep the box or get it custom like jerky's where he got a fiber glass casing on the left of the trunk or eal15's where he removed the spare tire compartment.

the setup hits hard without turning up the volume high. very content

have not posted in a while .. but.... some things just have to be done .... I did have to "dynamat the hell out of my car" prob spent more on that than the speakers ... I have a 1001BD amp 2 ..12 type r's .... ( IT DOES SOUND GOOD ) ... door windows closed .. no rattles .. get a good clean low base sound .... I will say due to the factory insulation of the car . there is a lot of added pressure built in the cabin & especially the trunk when dynamated .... I reduced some of the pressure in the trunk .. by using a hole saw . to cut ports in the pass through plastic (behind rear arm rest) ... sub setting on head unit stays about -2 -> 2 ... bass sets on 1 ..as someone else stated I think 18 is about the limit with all windows/sunroof closed ... with windows/sunroof cracked . I can turn it up as desired.. good luck .. I may post some new pics when I get a chance .. as I added a 7in flipdown TV from the roof .& some other stuff .. .. I have some old posts with some stereo stuff .. which may be helpful to resolve some rattles being heard .....

i got two 12" W6v2's with the JL 500/1 amp in a custom ported box. wouldn't want anything else. although, i might get another 500/1 amp in the future. being in high school, i see a lot of systems. i believe mine is the best. it may not be the loudest, but they can bump! and their the most clean + crisp sounding subs i've heard. JL is expensive, but you def get what you pay for!
