AdViCe PlEaSe JL AUDIO

Ok i was at my guy today and talking about my system. I originally went in their wanting one jl 10' w7. Some how he talked me out of it and told me their really only worth it for show cars and not as good as said and over priced thr whole 9 yards. So we talked and talked and talked and i decided on two 12' w3v2 with a 1200watt audibahn amp with leik two fans and temp display or sumin and a compasator(however it is spelled) and a mtx box with one thing not two or sumin that it will only be liek 4 ohms not 8. Now my question is did i make a good choice or should i have gone with the one 10' w7 COMMENTS PLEASE

04 TL... Anything over 600 watts will sound like shit from the outside unlike you dynamat the hell out of your car. ANd you will need plenty. You will need to take apart some pieces of the trunk as well... Also...

2 JLW3v2's are very good subs. The 2 fans and temp display are useless. Get a warranty on the 2 subs and maybe the warranty on the amp. That way if they break you get free replacements. Dont waste money on temp display and fans. Put your amp underneath the passenger seat and keep the climate control on and set it to Underneath. There is a vent underneat the seat and the amp will be properly ventilated. Get a dual box if you have 2 subs. Get a dual box with a dividier in the middle. DOnt get 2 sepearte boxes it looks kinda dumb

yes i think a capacitor may help

hope i helped

One of my buddies has the same Jl 12 subs your talking about in his a4, and he's not happy with it. We both had the jl 8 w7 in our cars and thought its the cleanest sounding sub we've heard, buut it wouldn't satisfy us at higher volumes it would not hit nicely w/ rap and hip hop at high volumes. so we concluded that 2 10 jl w6 v2 will cut it, which i will install sometime in the summer. I think one jl 10 w7 will do nicely hooked up to the jl 500/1 amp, if your not happy w/ that add in another one.

I'll never understand the need to subject the rest of the population with the sound coming out of a car...

10inch w7, there's no reason why a $35k should have anything less if what your going for his great bass in hip hop and the like..

I'm running a 6 channel mcintosh amp, mac mids and highs with image dynamics idq's for subs. i am very happy with that. i am also using a capacitor. everything behind the front seats have been dynomated. the trunk was built out and the original liner can put over the displayed amp and subs. it look like acura put this all in there. the dynomating really does work wonders. you really can't hear much outside even if i'm busy making myself deaf inside and the sound pure perfection. I would stay away from the w7 especially if you need two. the box they require is two big. a buddy of mine has one w6 or two if you wish. or image dynamics idmax, or alpine type x's, all very good. i strongly recommend staying away from a box and having the trunk built out. the only difference in space is no more spare tire and the trunck floor is about 2 inches higher than stock. i have pics to email out if you wish.

What do you need two 12 foot subs for? How are you going to get them into an MTX box with one thing not two? Don't worry about spelling "capacitor"; you still need to work on "like" and "something". Walk before you run!

My partner at work and I just took some quick pics. give me some time. The guy that did the custom work is the head installer at pictureperfectmotoring.com. the shop co-owned by morris peterson of the toronto raptors. his new web site is sjlcustomauto.com. he had decent prices, even for americans. all the cars on www.pictureperfectmotoring.com were built by him.

no spare, that's what road side assistance is for. i'm using them for everything it's free. i have new subs and a second amp but the sub diameter is slight larger. some mior modifications are needed for the subs and the amp will be mounted underneath everything.

Ok I guess first.. noone here really should take ANYTHING PERSONALLY.. it's our own tastes and just ignore people you think are being A$$e$.... that's first

Second.. the 10w7 is a FINE sub.. 1 of those with the right amp with def sound better than alot of other 2 subs..

I use ported enclosures... I like them cause they BOOOOOMMMM, I listen to Rap and hip hop and everything else.. I don't have an OUNCE of dynomat/scotch/liquid spray or any sound deadening and there is not ONE rattle.. I DO however have mine ported THRU the passthru in our cars so that is the reason.. I allows a much BETTER sound..

I am running 2500W or so and I DO NOT have a CAP... If the install is done right you don't need one.. period. Get a better battery if you THINK you need one.. If you are running less than 1500W YOU SHOULD NOT NEED A CAP...

I run all DLS stuff, most people haven't heard of it because it's not mainstream, but it wins all of the awards in Europe.. check it out if you don't believe me.. DLS SITE

Here are some pics of the install.

sorry kinda big.

Three amps across

Port in Passthru

Kick Panels

Just FYI I have a three way set up front Iridium 6.3 (their show line) 6.5 in stock door location, 4" in the kick panel and tweeter in dash location.

I have 2 DLS Iridium UR12's in a ported box behind the amps that run 800W each and it pounds all day long. I didn't lose my spare tire access either..

Ryan

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Wheres your subs facing??? The seat??? If so, it must be pretty hard for the subs to breathe??

Nice clean set up!!! So is the sub box built into the spare tire compartment or are you using the compartment as a box?? How much did just the installation of the sub box and amp rack and everything else cost you not including the subs and amps??? Thanks!

The subs are in a PORTED BOX, they don't need to face any certain way.. although they face each other in the box. A ported exclosure is basically a big box with a "VENT" coming out of it that the bass goes through... so the "Vent" is coming thru the passthru in our cars.

Did that make sense??

THink of it like this.. it's a cardboard box there are two subs in there and it's sealed with tape. then pop a hole in there and add a tube or some kind (like the ones paper towel come on) this is where the air comes out and it BOOOMMMMSSS. So the subs can face any direction although mine face each other..

if you were asking about this set up, it was under 1700 canadian with materials and dynomating everything behind the front seats. my buddy did all the work. the box is built under the subs.

ported boxes are good too. before thsi car i had a 240 sx and in there i had the same equipment but in a ported box. i prefer the seal enclosure, sub require larger boxes when ported and the sound was a little cleaner, but you can hardr notice it. i'm quite picky though so i prefer the audiophile end of things. it stil hits quite hard.

Nice stuff, a little different from my set up. I was thinking of going with the set up against the back seat aswell. Just preference. Its easier to fit my baseball bag in the car the other way. DLS stuff is good, again personal preference. macintosh was the first really high end stuff i was introduced to some i'm loyal to them. its good to see another clean install.
