Relocating the stock LCD is not really hard....
1- Extend ~40 cables from the stereo/temperature button to the board.
2- Cut the plastic bezel to make a good lookin fit
3- Take measurements and cut a transparent plexi glass
4- Choose the height of the display (MAKE SURE IT FITS IN THE CAR)
5- Cut a little from the corner of the board to make it fit
6- Paint the plexi in black or whatevercolor you like
7- Fix the plexi onto the board (hot glue)
8- Fix the board onto the plastic bezel (hot glue)
I coudl get into some more details but Im sure you're getting the point here.
One thing I will suggest you: if you can cut into you original bezel, take the 2 rectangular parts that surround and protect the LCD displays, this will limit the DUST from coming inside and mess you work!!!! (been there done that)
Let me know if you need more help!Good luck!

this was not a rush job I am on a month leave from work, so I was taking my time to do it right. No one in Hawaii wanted to do it, so I read up on all the post on here and decided to do it. It took me along time to work up the nerve to do it and then this $hit happens
Boy I can't wait to get my double din.

So what about if you are going from a TL-S with Navigation to a CarPC? Do you even need to worry about the "stock LCD" ? My concern is that with a Navi. TL you obviously use the Navi. screen for what the Non-Navi LCD was for. So if non-Navi folks are relocating their non-Navi LCDs, then what would someone who already has a Navi. do in this case?

Its possibile to relocate the Navi screen or there's some on here that simply Hide the navi screen and use the PC all the time. ( you need to keep the navi screen if you want the temperature and radio display in the clock display)
okay, can you clarify on two things for me:
1.) The navi screen must stay connected because it somehow relays through the connections the display information to the red-display up above it (on the TL-S). This should be apprent if I look at the technical manual for the TL-S, so I can check in to that as well.
2.) Does the Navi. screen, from what you are saying, drive all of that red-display in the TL-S?? So when you say temp. you mean the cabin temp and basically everything else on that display?
Thanks for the clarification; I'm getting a much better idea of what I need to do. (thanks for your replies in the other post as well!)

1)True, sorry if I didnt explain well...I have the NOn Navi version, so its kinda hard to explain in details. I just understand the concept. The screen is precessing some data and send it to the display..simple as that!!
2)It seems like it does. If you want to keep your Stereo and temp display, the navi screen needs to be connected. For instance, I have the non-navi version....but I want to LOOSE the stock LCD display (HVAC) so I can get back my lower compartments. I need to buy the NAVI screen ONLY and the Navi CLOCK. The navi would be hidden in the dash and give the info needed to the CLOCK display!(Stereo - Clock - temp - HFL)
This is one of the best : https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...819&highlight=
Dont worry if you need help, thats what Azine made for :P
GOOD LUCK BRO! Welcome to the family!!!

Okay, good information. I am going to look in to keeping the stock LCD some more. Maybe I can figure something out :-)
Thanks for the help!
So I just need to go hunt for a non-Navi bezel and maybe some other misc. parts for the time being!

Good don't stop there, did you also install your TV??
You're gonna need this : PA11-HON2y
You can buy this device on the internet from a lot of place. Make sure you shop for the best price. Simply do a PA11-HON2y search in google.
Has for the pictures, It would be even better to start your own thread. That way we could see all your personal work and innovation.
Im gonna start a thread in the AUDIO SECTION for a "Special section" about carPCs since there's a lot of people asking about it. ******PLEASE GO VOTE FOR IT MAYBE IT WILL WORK******

2) You can physically separate the LCD from the controller board. I did that in mine and physically shifted the controller circuit back to allow a Xenarc (in original casing) to fit in the same bezel space. The clock display still can do all the audio functions (display radio stations, disc track, etc), but speaker alignment is the only one I remember that was OEM LCD dependent. My CarPC is running much better with a Xenarc rather than signal converting with Dom's (resolution is MUCH sharper and touchscreens rule).
It was a pain in the a$$ when I blew out a fuse but did not catch it quickly. I thought I killed the circuit board and bought an extra on ebay (ugh long story). Anyhow, if you have the option of going non-navi to carPC it is much easier than what I went through. I kept with it since I will be holding onto the car for a few more years easily (05TL with 38k mi).
I have albums posted online, I can forward them to you to share notes, etc.

$24....Wow
I'm considering a carputer too. But I don't want to remove the two compartments just to display that information.
If I can get my hands on a cheap non-navi display like you found, I'll spring another $140.00 for the navi based upper display (where we only have a clock) to see if there is anyway to do an lcd to lcd connection or something like that.
I read one thread where someone bought a navi display and just used it to get the information to the upper display and just stashed the display inside the dash. Unless there's one that can be had for really cheap, that's a lot of expense for something that won't be seen.
As far as the radio goes, I am thinking of getting a PC tuner that has a FM tuner onboard and drive it via the PC. So the headunit will be used as the volume control only.
Good luck with your installation. Do you have a heated garage to work in? It's going to get cold up here pretty soon (I'm about 2hrs south of Montreal)!!

For audio... just use the XM input to the radio. I wired directly to a 3.5mm cable and it sounds amazing. Much better than a tape adapter or FM transmitter. Almost like aux input.
I got lucky and found the navi screen and bezel for like $100 i believe... I have a couple of the old non-navi dash bezels if anyone is interested. I am selling them off for what I paid..$45 + shipping.
PM if interested.
Here is the NAVI HAVC with 8.4" Dynamix Touch Screen installed on 04 NAVI Bezel thet I bought from E-Bay for 49.00 and the Navi buttons are remapped to CAR PC so I can control.
This will be install on 04 Acura Non_Navi next week or so.

All the HVAC cable has been extended and CAR PC will be place under passenger seat.
Once I finish I will post more picture and sorry for dark quality photo.

I'm using Valheru's Teknik T-3 Skin (Change alot manually), IG2009, on the XP w/Sp2, Direct X9, 1.6Ghz CPU 1Gb Ram, 60Gb For OS, 160Gb Sata for MP3 and DVDs, External DVD R/RW, M2-ATX Power.
I purchased Dual Shock USB Gamepad for less than 10$ and Use Xpadder(Free Program - works beautifully) for keyboard and mouse emulation.
Set for shortkey under Xpadder will launch automatically every time you start computer before Frone End start.
Game pad has analog and digital button but default is digitaland analog is not the push on/off style so you need modification if you want to use analog signal.
So, I choose digital signal cause digital will accept ananlog input as well.
I made 2 wire to each button from Gamepad total of 16wires(I Used network cable - works fine)
On the HVAC bezel there is PCB board behind the button carefully remove back cover (has 4 screw) and on the pcb board there is 2 screw.
PCB board has 11 wire connector which 2 wire is use for Night Illumination and 9 wire is for all the button which is not enough to connect all the wire to GamePad.
Which mean is some circuit is connect each other buttom so I used razor blade to cut the circuit board copper circuit(Just Hair Cut - Not to damage other circuit) next to each button but leave enough to solder.
Make sure not to cut Light bulb circuit.
And solder the wire from game pad 2 wire for each button.
On the joy stick on the factory HVAC bezel doesn't have any register but game pad has register for that reason you need same register read from game pad joystick and connect each regiter to HVAC's Joystick make sure same x and y's value from gamepad.
Once finish and good time to change light bulb to blue I am using smallest blue led(whatever color you like) solder direct to circuit board make sure check with multimeter test you solder same circuit because led need + and - circuit and can't be combind.
Once you finish then connect 12v source see if work properly.
I am not an engineer to do this but I asked someone who set up kind of like my setup but he never answer me(2 button works on his setup
) kind of pissing me off.
MAP/GUIDE - switch screen from menu or any other screen to GPS.
MENU - GPS Menu Display and Enter Key on Skin Menu
SETUP/INFO - LIst on GPS and Cursor Left/Cursor Right on skin menu.
ZOOM - Zoom Out/In on GPS and Cursor Up/Cursor DOwn on skin menu.
Cancel - Exit on the GPS and Cancel/Back to previous on the skin menu.
Audio - Audio on the skin menu ( I can't think of using something else)
Joystick for me use as mouse.
I hope this help you set up your project

I have attach the PA11-HON2y to my XM head unit. I have one problem. Everytime when i switch between disc play or FM/AM to XM, i have to reach down to the PA11-HON2y, and switch the pin from off and on to get audio sound from my PC.
What can i do to fix this problem
What can i do to fix this problem
...lol...)I am developing Skin it may under Linux or XP or both support OBD-II Engine Management(It will take forever I guess, if I spare 3 hours a day? lol...).
Till then I will use what I have.
Anyway, Image you could download at Acura Website and they have other higher res. image too.
Ikechum: nice install so far =) you took it one up with the usb gamepad. i would love to have the center joystick functioning as a mouse but right now since its wired to a usb keyboard instead, its very tricky to program
New skin in developing
I am going to make new skin for my need.
It is not fancy but all that I needed is there.
It is transparency so can use any background images.
It will takes time to finish.

Previous skins looks too much cartoonish.
So, I decide to go other skin (modified from kuo) that fits for me.
I like to keep it simple without using much flash.
Most of skins used too much of flash files that slowing down CAR PC performance.

Finally CAR PC installed on 04 TL
Finally finished spent 8 hours without eat.
Hardest part was the original HVAC move to bottom center console.
I used flexiglass for temp. solution but soon will be replace with solid wood frame since I am manufacturing cabinet doors
. Wood frame will be much cleaner and more to factory look.
Anyway, computer works fine as I expected(Slow boot but I can live withit).
BTW computer placed under the driver seat some how there is AC bent outlet will cool down computer as long as I am driving(which I don't have to worry heating problem).
Here is some ugly out of focused photo attached.

Hey guys, not sure where I stated that I would be doing a small video on "How to remove the dash and center console"....but I guess its ok if I post it here.
I finally shot the video last weekend I simply need to edit it and POST it on the forum. I hope this will help people personalizing their TL.
Stay tune, it will be out soon!!

My first dynamix was bad too. I am going one 1 year on my second with no problems. It's big, 8" and 16:9 widescreen, but I would like it to be brighter. Once it goes bad I may look to another brand.
Maharajamd:
My schematic is almost the similar as yours except I have high end sound card that gives me RCAs out. I tapped into the XM receiver in the trunk. When I press XM on my head unit I get the PC sound. I still retain all stock head unit functions. Sorry, I use Roadrunner too.
