My first dynamix was bad too. I am going one 1 year on my second with no problems. It's big, 8" and 16:9 widescreen, but I would like it to be brighter. Once it goes bad I may look to another brand.

Maharajamd:

My schematic is almost the similar as yours except I have high end sound card that gives me RCAs out. I tapped into the XM receiver in the trunk. When I press XM on my head unit I get the PC sound. I still retain all stock head unit functions. Sorry, I use Roadrunner too.

^ Yup, it is. I used a laptop obviously, so super high end audio cards were not an option. Everyone on mp3car said just use a regular old SB Live usb card. It was only like $40...

No center speaker because that schematic is for a 93 prelude, not a TL

As far as Centrafuse is, I wouldn't fathom using anything else. I tried them all, and centrafuse was by far the best. Of course it isn't shareware so...it's not free. :P I had it all working, video, audio, gps, wifi, traffic, even had some of the engine management working too...well as much as I could with OBDI...

The only thing I could complain about was the screen. It was just a lcd, not a anti-reflective like the oem nav screen or higher end lcd's are. So glare was an issue. Well, until I got tinted

I had a script setup so when my car came into my houses wifi area, it would join the network, check my "music folder" and whatever songs I had in there, it would copy over and load into centrafuse. All I had to do to put new material on the carpc was drag songs into a folder on my home desktop Can't possibly explain how nice that was.

I'm using the EMU 0404 Sound card, not super high end but good output and clean sound. My CarPC is set up for wifi too. I can copy stuff over from my home network into my car, look at weather and traffic b4 I leave for work.

Whats up guys!! Finally took some time to get some pictures tonight. My project is now growing up.........

Here was the first step, removing the extra plastic on the bezel.

Second step was to apply some Epoxy Dynatron 660 to fit the bezel as I WISH!

Results after a couple hours sanding and fiting **NEW DIGITALFX3.0***

I still need to sand and fill the holes but its only some last details thing. Then I'll simply bring it to a painter and he will give the OEM look back again lol :P

So I said that my project was growing up, here's what I mean.

Im taking the mould of my glove box (custom case)

I calculate everything and I finally choose to build my comp in my GloveBox.For that, I need a case, so I decided to build one with the Dynatron 660, so it will be made of plastic and some reinforcement. I'll have to sand it so it will be soft and will fit perfectly. I plan on making this removable (not portable)....its all on the planing board

!More to come!

thanks for the upgrade. everyting look great so far. i am also planning to install a carputer in my car, so i guess i'll just copy what you are doing. however i'll just use a laptop so i don't have to worry about building a computer in glovebox.

So the LCD screen will not fit right without reshaping it? Will the navigation brezel fit correctly without all the cutting and reshaping?

It'll fit but, you still see some parts of the screen on both sides. I wanted to hide those parts and also placed the screen 1/2 inch deeper in the dash to minimize the light during the day. Works pretty good so far!!

As for the NAVI bezel, I think it's better then the stock one, but it can't be perfect. Let us know if you FIND one as they are really rare and only come with the NAVI screen, which is really expensive.

Will post pictures when Bezel and Case are ready! Stay tuned!

You're taking the bezel to a painter to get painted?!?! IT should be very easy to do yourself...

sand, primer, sand, primer, sand, base, sand, base...

I found that regular black paint doesn't look right. Honda black interior have this semi-gloss off black color to them. So if you spray semi-gloss or gloss black, it'll look way too dark. If you use flat it'll look cheap.

I found that the dupount trim paint looks just about spot on. The problem is the way it sprays. It sprays in a very funky pattern. When I did this process for the prelude I probably painted/sanded/repainted 8 or 10 times...

I know I could get a could result by myself, but the problem is the time!!! I really want to have this installed and fullly working for mid June. So I will bring this to a friend who know how to work plastic and paint, it'll take him couple hours instead of couples days for me !!

Thanks for the inside!!

^ Heh, having connections is nice isn't it? :P

Good luck, can't wait to see the finished product.

Have any plans for a hidden keyboard or track pad anywhere?

Yeah almost done, I installed everything yesterday from 11AM to 11PM .

Its on a temporary install for now since I was missing some wiring and extension. I placed the computer below the passenger carpet. I tested every single features and they're all working like a charm....

I'll post some pictures of the final install later on next week. My car is at the dealer for repair as I was a victim of a hit and run!!!

Stay tuned!

2) Connect OPUS 150W on Ignition and 12v + test Hibernation
3) Rune wire extension for USB, audio jack and VGA
4) Run GPS antenna on rear deck (below carpet)
5) Mount Case in the trunk
6) install USB DVD in GloveBox PS2 slim

Yeah I had some balls to try and it went pretty WELL!!

I asked a lot of question to the paint responsive at my corner paint store. He helped me understood what I had to do to make it look OEM.

I'll wright a simple DIY in my final right up next week, hoping it will help others!

***I used some red primer (3 coat total) + some FLAT BLACK ENAMEL (4 coats total). I think I will have to redo some more sanding and painting, to make it last!! and apply a transparent clear!! But I was in a hurry, so I took a shortcut

Yes.

There is a switch that can be made to toggle between the 2 but I just went ahead and disabled the XM since I really don't use it.

I finally installed everything last sunday. Just got my car back from the dealer for the hit and run repair.

I still need to connect my OPUS 150 to the ignition, run some extension wire and place the computer in the trunk. Im basically on testing mode.

I had the chance to try the Car2Pc Device, but didnt had major luck with it. First when I started the car, I was able to switch from CD to PC and vice versa, but as soon as I stopped the car, I was loosing my display and wasnt able to switch between cd - PC again ???

I asked some questions yesterday and explain my situation to the responsive guy from car2pc. I hope I'll have some good help!!

here'some pics of the 85% install

Did you move the stock radio / ac display lcd's to the bottom of the panel?
Can you also please let us know about the wiring challenges that you faced?
thanks

^^ Yeah I did moved the HVAC display below the Head Unit, but I'll have to redo it, dust is getting into it.

As for the wiring challenges, I had it very easy for NOW lol.

To move down the display you need to extend ~40 wires. What I did is, bought a extra display from ebay ~ 30 bucks. I removed all female + male connectors from that extra display. And I simply soldered these to create a big extended wire. Here's a exemple:

So that way I didnt have to cut any wire in the car.

Still, I need to connect my Power supply OPUS 150 that has an ignition wire, so I could turn on and off the car without arming the PC. Here what's left:

What's left:

1) Run 12v wire from battery to the trunk - DONE
2) Connect OPUS 150W on Ignition and 12v + test Hibernation
3) Rune wire extension for USB, audio jack and VGA - DONE
4) Run GPS antenna on rear deck (below carpet) - DONE
5) Mount Case in the trunk
6) install USB DVD in GloveBox and PS2 slim

I don't think his car has XM.

VMT, I thought you were going to route the case to the glove compartment? Are you still making plans for that? Or was the trunk thing just temporary till the glove compartment mold is completed?

^^ You got it right!

RTLNOOBIE : I don't have XM radio since my car is an 04 Canadian model. I only have the option of a AUXILIARY input. I just tried with the Car2PC device and I have some trouble making it work, so I'll probably try with another Aux input device.
Link : http://car2pc.com/

04Komodo: The glove box mold was a BIG project and I didn't want 2 wait. Its been more then a year of plan and config, it was about time to install.

I'll keep the glove box project for next winter.

I still have much to do to make it work and look as I want 2.

For now, I'm not getting any sound since I unplugged the Car2PC device. I sent a support request and they sent me some things to test and debug.

I'll do what they want and send them the logs file. I will keep you guys updated on the development.

As for the sound, when I first installed the car2pc device the sound was good enough. I had the 5 speakers + subs running perfectly. I found that the sound quality was more depending on the SONG and PC audio card.
