lo... i know, i never even got a letter but it worked. fedex left me a notice on my door this friday and nobody was home to sign for the package. i should have gotten it shipped to work... they are supposed to attempt to deliver again tomorrow.

I called and got the $99 deal and used the same reason as everyone else. The phone announcement says the deal is extended until the 3rd.

i finally installed mine today and was hoping that this new disc would solve my navi issues since it says "please check your disc" all the time and goes blank, but no luck. i guess i have to send it to alpine and cough up another 158 bucks to get it fixed.

Other than having updated (newer) streets, I'd say it wasn't worth it.

It doesn't fix the crappy way it searches for stuff. My Garmin 320 was way better at finding stuff than this Nav system is...

Tip for all those frustrated with the way searches work in our nav. You all have experienced that entering by "Name" does not work well. Instead, I'll offer the following method which does work very well. It is a few extra clicks, but I've been using this for 4 years and have gotten very used to the extra clicks...

- Press "Menu" button
- Choose "Places"
- Choose "Category" (don't choose "Name")
- Pick the category of the place you need.
- Choose "Place name by keyword"
- Choose "Sort by Distance To Travel" or "City Vicinity"
- Type in the name you need (e.g. Target)

You will now get a list sorted by distance or city the way you would expect. I have no idea why this isn't the default way of searching by name and it is certainly annoying to have to have a few extra clicks, but it has made searching on the Nav usable for me and I've been using it frequently for 4 years now and have been pleased with the results.

Is this updated disk actually worth it? By that I mean what major changes besides just updated roads does it offer e.g. UI, etc.

no if you past this screen you will be paying full price looks like offer ended a few weeks ago. i may be selling mine since my navi still doesnt work. i thought this would fix it but it did not. i am gonna send it to alpine and if that doesnt fix it i will sell it for 125 bucks. i paid like 120 after tax and shipping. pm me if interested in it.

dam if this deal was still up i would get it right now. ridiculous to pay $185 for a new disc....btw this dvd is burn-able....just an fyi... and also theres no "tracking" to check burned dvd's....i say it with confidence but of course i dont "speak from experience" or anything...

Think its bascically just points of interest, new road, gas station, a few posts above Roger said the routing is faster. If you go to website I believe it says what the new changes will be.

The update also fixes the clock so that it changes for Daylight Saving Time in March and November instead of April and October.

There had been reports in this thread that it fixed the DST schedule, but since I got the update after the clocks went back last November, I wasn't sure. When I drove the TL on Tuesday for the first time this week, it initially said "2:07" when I started it up in the garage but it promptly jumped to "3:07" once I had the car in the driveway.

Changing it manually isn't a big deal, but it's nice to have it working automatically again.

Wish I saw this prior to my boyfriend purchased his TL. I spoke with the a rep and let me know they will be having another sale in April. They took my information and said they would e-mail me. He also said I should check back in April for whatever they might be offering.
Hope this helps for those of you who missed the sale.
