'04-'06 backup cam OEM with nav brightness menu (pics)
i wanted a backup cam for my 04 navigation (04-06 same navi). you all know that 04-06 never had back up cam so you need a video converter to be able to (navitool or other).
i wanted something oem to blend with my system so i spoke to martin. he recomended me MDX 03-04 video converter part # 39108-s3v-a01. you can find this in a junk yard for around $50 or buy it new for around $250. you will also need a special harness from martin.
installation when well, you can have back up cam and video output if you like. i feel safer knowing that i have a oem video converter which i think is more reliable and made to last. you can install any backup cam you like to the video converter.
From the moment you turn your car on you can use your backup cam even if the screen is showing the bootup logo or the ok button. you can control the brightness of the screen for the webcam pressing setup or info to bring the menu to the screen and moving the brightness up or down with the analog joystick.
hope this helps anyone cause i think is an excellent option from all the choice with have with different video converters.

everything is $200 if you can find the part in your yunk yard, also search ebay you might find it aswell.
i believe the back up cam software was included on the 04-06 but was never release with it, since it use the same navi from a 03-04 mdx which carries video converter thats is why it works just like it was an oem setup without any modification. i still think there's other thing i haven't discover cause i found this by luck, pushing button around and i saw the brightness menu.

yeah matin make a harness with a video ouput for a dvd player or any video source. he place it in the front wherever place you like. usually inside the arm rest and a custom switch for it. if you can find the video converter part# for an mdx 03-04 in a junk yard, you might be able to get it for $50 and martin will install everything for $100 (backup cam) and a xtra $50 (video source inside the arm rest custom switch included. the harness is included.

give him a call, i have his number somewhere i'll pm to you. Martin is very famous here and have install navigation system to alot of members. he knows what he is doing and only work on honda and acura systems. Don't crazy on the video converter, try to look around online and junk yard. You can easily get it for $50-$75.
call junk yard and see if they have a mdx 03-04 with navi. Almost 90% of the time the video converter still in the car cause is in the trunk inner panels.

very cool! wish I knew about this, but I already have the Doms unit and a Auidovox backup camera.. I just really ike the brightness thing.. I have HIDs in my reverse lights and sometimes I want to turn the brightness down so i can see things more clearly lol .. still works great tho.. Just very cool to know that this is another option that can be cheaper!

Just adding to this older thread... Martin now lives in central FL and I contacted him through eBay about the harness. I bought a used '03 MDX video module and drove about 90 minutes to have him install the module, harness, and a basic camera. I'm aware that the Nav2Go units to similar functions, but this was a cheaper route for me and I'm not interested in playing videos on the nav screen. Here's the result:
