Backup Camera '07 nav

So the stock camera lens is a bit foggy. I used some snap ring pliers to remove lens and clean but was unsuccessful. Its all froze up and the plastic wasnt strong enough to crank out. I just called acura and they quoted me 1,100 dollars for the camera! JUST THE CAMERA. Maybe i got an idiot, but my question is:

Has anyone hooked up another backup camera to the stock navigation without getting the av add on and all that jazz? Ive seen cameras on ebay but they are all used and have the same "foggy" look to them.

I came to a conclusion with the OEM camera after doing some hands on. As i said earlier what started it all was the "foggy" lens giving a not so clear image. I used snap ring pliers to remove lens but ended up getting only 180 on it before it shredded the plastic and froze. this left the camera out of focus almost completely. Today i decided to take it apart and try a little harder. I took a file and took down an edge on both sides of the lens so i could get at it with a crescent. File worked great and was able to get a good grip, but once i used some pressure, the whole black holding ring went to shit.

This is when i discovered the culprit. The outside lens is glass as we all knew, but there is a second plastic one inside. I tried using PlastiX to buff the fade away but the fog actually goes through the entire piece. So, i glued the thing back together and used JB weld to replace the black ring and keep it water tight. Looks the same and im back to start :/

In short. The Camera is shit...
