Xenon Bulbs

I know the TL Xenons are more white, has anyone installed a different xenon bulb which gives it more of a purple color? If so, where did you buy them from and how much?

Any pics would be great also. Thanks in advance for any feedback

Imo...

If you need some quick answers, you could go GARAGE to search "bulb".

if you decide to change out the xenon bulbs for different color rating (i.e. 6000K) the color output will be more purplish. but be aware that you will be getting less performance with higher rated colored bulbs. they simply put less light on the road. the stock color rating on the xenon bulb is 4300K for your info.

Hey I am from the 2nd gen section but I was cruising throught here and saw this post. I know of 2 websites that sell the Xenon bulbs. They offer from the stock 4300K, 6000K, 8000K, and even a 10,000K bulb. The first one (HID Express) actually has pictures you can scroll over to get a good view of them. The second one (Plasma Garage) has the better prices. I have heard good things about the bulbs from HID Express. I dont know about the ones from Plasma Garage. Here you go and good luck.

I upgraded to the PIAA HID 6600k - SUPER COBALT bulbs and it looks SICKKKK!!.... There is no light difference whatsoever and it does add a little unique touch to your TL seeing how TL's are EVERYWHERE now!!

I got them from my local Custom shop, but I see them all over the place online:

yeah i recently heard of these bulbs and they look interesting. would love to see a pic of the lights on your car. you said that there is no difference in light output its probably not the case. its just science when it comes to the amount of light(lumens) that is put out on the road. the higher the color temp the less lumens the HID bulb puts out. the human eye cannot distinguish between a light intensity change of 30%(which is what the difference is from 4300 > 6000). the fact of the matter is that less light is being put on the road when using higher rated kelvin HID bulbs.

TL-CrAzIe-05:
you would need to get the D2S for our TL because it uses a projector style lamp.

It's not the colour rating of the bulb it's the lens in the projector lamp unit that makes the difference. Check with any BMW owner and they will tell you that their bulbs are rated at 4300k as well.
