Which wire on the MAP sensor plug is...

I need to tap into the wire that gets the signal from the ECU.

I was looking for the Technical details of it, but to no avail

Sorry to be nosy, but, why do you need to tap into that wire?

I just looked at my service manual, and it looks like pin 1 on the MAP sensor (yel/red) is power, pin 2 (grn/red) is ground and pin 3 (grn/wht) is the signal wire. You're not going to install one of those performance modules, are you? if so, let us know how it works and what DTC's you get afterwards.

No, I don't believe in that 20+ MPG and 50+ horsepower for $8.99 crap.

To answer you question though I need to make just a slight adjustment to the voltage signal.

This won't damage the engine with what I'm about to due, but actually make is run a little cleaner.

The check engine light WILL turn on, no doubt about it, but that'll similar to when you first install a CAI system.

Anyways I'll fill you in on what I'm doing a little later today after I finish AND if its as success I'll probably make a DIY Video to add to my collection.

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for giving the info on the wires, JUST to be double sure can anyone else confirm the info about the green/white wire?

Thanks again

It should be easy to find by probing the connector with the key on. Power should be ~5 volts. Ground should be, well, ground. And the other wire will vary with sensor arm movement. I guess it would be tough to check alone and even without the car running, maybe. Being Fly-by-Wire and all. I haven't played with this car much yet, as I haven't needed to. Hopefully, someone will confirm all of this for you, or you can go and see for yourself. I'd be interested in what results you expect and what you actually see. I've seen different tricks on the GM EFI systems (TPI, TBI, LT1, etc.) but I haven't seen it for our PGM-FI. Let us know what its about.

its a 3 wire sensor..

simple reference voltage, output signal and ground..

pin 1 is ref voltage, 2nd is signal, and 3rd is sensor ground <.1v

may i ask what exactly you are going to do to the signal line? im pretty interested in this..

let me guess a resistor to lower the map sensor output voltage?

The 3rd PIN (Green/White wire) was the signal at 5 Volts when tested.

Sure enough the custom built MAP enhancer allows me to now lower the map sensor output voltage.

Since my car is now a Gasloline/Water Hybrid I no longer need so much voltage going to the MAP sensor.

More details on this conversion will follow tomorrow.

More Horsepower + more MPG

I'm pretty sure I can now say I have the first ever 3G Acura TL Hybrid in the world

Still adjusting settings, so will finish tomorrow to see how many MPG I now get on the freeway

oh, hell, I got mixed up there. I described how to check the TPS signal by varying the throttle opening. My bad. We were talking about the MAP sensor. My second post is definitely about the MAP sensor and its pin-out according to the FSM.

Water injection, huh? Seen that for forced induction cars, but you're NA, right? I'm surprised you've got the testicles to monkey with Honda's PGM-FI to that extent. Well, I can't say much. I've done so much with GM's systems, but not the late model stuff. TPI's and LT1's are the limit for me. I guess I need to get with the times and drop an LS engine in something that it really shouldn't be in. I love the old pushrod V8's. I'd like to see someone get more power and more MPG from the honda V6. It might just convince me to switch to import power for my other projects.

Ok just finished testing and the results are, about 40 MPG at 65 MPH and 44 MPG at slightly above 50 MPH.

It freakn' worked!!!

OH and when I finally finished the test, I gunned it because it suppose to increase horsepower between 15-20% and you'll feel it! I did!

I'm going to have some more made ordering 3 more units today and tomorrow for other cars/SUVs.

Woot woot!

EDIT: If you want more info on it go here.

He didn't invent it, a lot of people are using this system or similar ones, and it does work.

Sure it does. Like when you put bigger wheels at the back and it runs downhill all the time.

does anyone know how many mpgs the car normally gets when you are going 65 mph?

77 degress
5AT
Tires inflated to the highspeed pressures from the book
Relatively flat terrain
93 Octane Gas
no traffic

51 MPH (3 Miles)
Run 1 (A/C on (70 degrees, Radio on) 44MPG
Run 2 (A/C off (70 degrees, fan on 3), Radio off) 49MPG

65 MPH (4 Miles)
Run 1 (A/C on (70 degrees, Radio on) 40MPG
Run 2 (A/C off (70 degrees, fan on 3), Radio off) 40MPG

Steps
1. Floor the car until it gets up to speed
2. Set the cruise control
3. Reset the car's mpg tracker
4. Go

sorry buddy ........ go get your money back

If you want you should retry it at the same place you did before, but without the water. The TL does get good gas mileage, it's the driver that doesn't.

Yeah, you wouldn't even think about that, but it makes sense. The pruis probably ran out of battery power really fast racing around. Then while the prius was redlining, the m3 was probably only hitting 2500rpms. Even though the m3 has a big engine, it isn't trying as hard the prius is. It probably works the same way if you live in the mountains.

Very interesting.

Advantage TL, hehehehe
