Nope didn't shave the lock, it is still there but you just can't see it. It is underneath the replacement cover that originated from the left rear door (I ordered one from the dealer). Actually I got the idea from this board; I can't remember who or else I'd give them credit.

I've actually removed my remote starter temporarily because I had the doors wired wrong and had a bit of a breakdown. I'm going to be putting it back in when it gets warm enough outside to do it outside. Or maybe sooner, I'm not sure. So I don't have an update yet. I'm going to hopefully wire it to roll up on arm and roll down with an AUX channel. I will keep this thread up to date when I get it working. Sorry for not having any more info than that.

Glad to report that mine is still working like a champ (windows up w/ the fob). I'm actually using the same method to put the windows up on my friends '05 Mustang GT.

Hey if any of you guys feel up for the challenge and want to do this (it seems a few are interested), I'll be more than happy to walk you through it. Either by PM or the board, email, or if your in the middle of doing it and have an immediate question let me know before you start the project and we can exchange phone numbers and timing permiting, instructions via phone is always easy.

Just get the parts I have listed out. Now for those who are a bit more 12V electroniclly inclined, we have found that there are timed relays out there that can perform what I have put together. So my set up is not the only way to do it.

Bottom line is that I've at least found the trigger wire (from the Piezo) and the signal wire (to send windows up). With this bit of information, any alarm shop should be able (willing...?) to use that information to make it work. Heck you can have them talk to me if it comes down to it.

I know a lot of you guys would love to have this feature (I don't know why it doesn't come as a factory option) but won't pursue because it seems like too much work. To those of you who feel this way I say, don't hesitate. There is no down time for your TL, and you will appreciate this feature (more so come summer time). It is a security factor that I have had on all my vehicles since '98 (via moding my factory alarm or aftermarket). I just like to know that when I walk away from my vehicle that all the doors are locked and windows and roof are closed.

I'd rather have this feature of windows up from the fob than down from the fob.

The TL does do that, but it's a double pulsed lock and hold with the key so the car doesnt automatically assume that you're tryin to close all the windows whenever you lock the car.

Major points to the guy that posted the pics. Ive done it many times but you also can use a window roll up module with onboard timer. DEI makes it.

 

This is true DEI 529/530 are window/sunroof modules; it's just a lot more wiring than what is needed for the TL.

I will be looking into this again soon. I was hoping the PAC TR-7 could do what was needed, but the only way I can figure out how to make it work is by using 2 of them. Have you looked at the TR-7s? There's tons of different modes, but I can't seem to find a mode that would work. Maybe if I were to press on the button TWICE, but I really want to make the windows close automatically on arming (locking). Anyways, I'll look into it again when the time comes. For now, I'm not working on it cuz I have other things on the go.

 

I havent tried pac's in a while. They dont hold up to moisture very well. The harnesses develop corrosion in them. Dont know why but I guess you get what you pay for because the DEI's cost more than the pac's. As far as the arming though, Im in the habit of pressing the lock button twice because I like hearing the beep so, I know I would prefer mine to go up on the double lock pulse. But IM not doing nothin to my tl until the warranty is up, you know what I mean?

 

I wouldn't mind the double-press either. But I have an aftermarket alarm, and it's not so good at the whole double-pressing thing. I'll figure out the PACs again when I get a chance.

in the hot california sun, it's nice to leave my sunroof cracked to get some ventilation.
I'm assuming with this setup, just don't press the fob twice that way the sunroof can still be left cracked open right? But don't you need to press the fob twice anyway to engage the alarm (although a pathetic alarm indeed)?

Press once to lock the doors; press second time to confirm/engage alarm. Not sure on this but know it's like this for the accords. Either way, still would like to have my sunroof cracked open during the blazing hot afternoons.

 

How is this any different or more intrusive than having a car alarm installed? I don't think it would void anything.

 

This is an excellent mod, however I've done a lot of electronic mods on previous car, and there is one thing you need to remember- taking the plastic apart and reinstalling it leads to rattles.

 

It will allow Acura to void the Warranty on anything you've tinkered with (door panels, wiring, etc)...

NOT...I REPEAT...NOT the warranty on the entire vehicle.

So if you blew a piston you'd still be cool.

Popular misconception is that any after market mod will result in the warranty for the whole vehicle being null and void.

waiting on 1 more relay and the Remote Power Adapter

i've veen doing electronics for over 10 years so this install should take me about 30 minutes(running the wire through the door will take the longest)

Sweet, are you the first to try my mod? Really it is quite simple for anyone with car stereo/ alarm install experience. Hit me up if you have any questions but looks like you won't.

I agree that the hardest part of the install is running a wire through the door into the car. If you reach inside the door with the speaker out, you can unplug the harness that runs through the door jam. You'll then see a spot in the harness that is not used; I made this slot slightly bigger with a small bit so as to not risk my single wire being pinched. This made running the wire through the door into the car much easier and very clean.

i did this on a civic before to install power windows

hopefully honda changed how they run wire in the rubber boot and they don't zip tie them inside like they did on 2000 civics

since i'm still missing the power remote adapter, i am going to run the wire through the door either tonight or tomorrow morning to get it out of the way

 

ran the wire through the door this monring, took about 30 minutes. the worst part is getting the rubber boot back on the car

now i'm still waiting on the power remote adapter, once i get that the install should be about 5 minutes since everything is already preped

 

does your door panel rattle after taking it on and off?

how hard was it? im thinking about running the connections tomorrow since someone is helping me put in my visor tvs!

 

no ratles, the panel comes off in about 5 minutes, the running the wire takes the longest, it's hard to explain, but it's a bitch to do

 

looks like someting is not working on my mess of wires

relay 1 and 2 are clicking(so they work) but the windows never close, so i don;'t know if it's the remote power adapter or the 3rd relay

looks like i have 2 different relays

1 and 2 look the same and 3 looks different, but came from DEI as the correct part

 

all 3 relays are working, what i noticed is if i keep pressing the lock button after it beeps, then the windows close, but doing that will take forever, i have a feeling the remote turn on(pac tr-4) is shot or not wired correctly

mine has different colors wires
yellow - +12v (red wire in instructions)
green - trigger wire (grey wire in instructions)
blue - output (same as instructions)
black - ground(same as instructions)

 

Pressing and holding the lock button on your key fob the third time will get the windows to go up? You'll have to tell me a little more before I can trouble shoot for you but it sounds like you just need to adjust the timers to get it to work right.

 

i hope the relays i got from ebay match up well...it should be the same brand as chusteveb's......dei and pac brands....

still have not run the wires yet...

one question for chusteveb:

do you press the lock button twice and hold for the windows to go up like how you would to lower the windows or what?

No I do not. I simply hit the lock button on my fob momentarily 2 consecutive times just as anyone would to get the confirmation tone.

 

Did you check to see if the low voltage remote turn on works? You can use a 12V test light to see if it comes on with the confirmation tone.

It should come on long enough to trigger all 3 relays at the same time.
Remeber that all three timer relays will trigger and start at the same time by the low voltage remote turn on.
- The first relay simulates the key in the drivers door turning to the lock position; the TL will recognize this relay simulating the key turned to the lock position at less than a second so relay timer #1 will only need to be set for a very minimal amount of time.
- The second relay simulates the key turning back from the lock position to the neutral rest position; the TL will also recognize the relay simulating this move at less than a second so relay timer #2 will also only need to be set for a minimal amount of time.
- The third and last relay simulates the key in the drivers door being turned a second consecutive time but this time held for the windows and sunroof to close completely; the TL will perform this action of closing the windows and roof for as long as it sees the relay simulating the key turned and held in the lock position. Since the sunroof takes the longest to close when completely opened, relay timer # 3 will need to be set for a duration long enough to completely close the sunroof from a wide open position. Set the timer for a little longer of a duration to allow for times when the car battery is a bit weaker or the roof is wet and takes longer to close, etc.

When all said and done, you should be able to hit the lock button on your factory key fob momentarily 2 consecutive times and anything that is open should close. Hitting the unlock button on the factory key fob while windows or the roof is closing will stop the motion; continue to close all windows and roof by repressing the lock button on the key fob twice consecutively.

Really? You shouldn't have to hold the lock button at all, this whole process is activated by the confirmation tone which you get by pressing the lock button on your fob twice.

How does your set up work?

 

you are correct again, i thought i had to hold the button down for the entire time. then last night just for shits and giggles i pressed it 2 times, heard the beep and about 2 seconds later it rolled up till everything was closed. only thing i need to do is extend the amount of time, cause once in a while the sunroof doesnt fully close
