Question Window top squeal-rattle

Once again the stupid question regarding the famous rubbing/squeal/rattle from the top protion of the driver's side window.
It only happens if I fully close the window.
If i open the window a bit I do not hear the rattle(glass against rubber squealing ).

Does anyone finally have a solution for this problem or has anyone received a fix for this problem from the dealer?

Window rattle

I have the same problem. Check out https://acurazine.com/forums/acurazine-clubs-meets-15/belated-photos-la-meet-84527/

I plan to ask the dealer to fix it when I bring it in for service.

It’s also F-040 in the 3G Garage thread, where you will find lots of other useful information..

I should mention though that I performed the fix in F-040 but it doesn't really do anything. Still does the occasional squeak and rattle and I still can't pinpoint it, other than I know it's coming from the window seal area. Symptoms are the same - it disappears when the window is just a TAD open.

Check your side mirror area. That should be the place. The back plastic makes that noise.

Yeah, I think rets made a comment about that. That back plastic and the top window seal area are actually the same piece of plastic; what is different about that mirror area compared to the rest of the seal?

After reading for almost a week all the potential cures to this squeaking noise on the top of the window frame while window glass is closed all the way up, i decided on giving some care into my vehicle, and noticed that immediately after washing the car the noise would disappear, but unfortunately after the car dried it came back again.
My guess..temperature related (expansion/contraction) or lack of moisture of the various rubber seals around the window frame.
I decided on trying the simplest, used common silicone spray aplying it to all crevices and rubber flaps, and areas where either rubber to rubber made contact or metal to rubber.
Bingo! It worked for at least the whole day.
My guess is that after some preiodof time and depending on the climate you live at, rubber elements start losing their moisture content, getting dried by the exposure.
I am not sure if the common silcone lubricant spray is the right product for 'dressing' the rubber components.
Any comments on which product would be best to be able to spray into crevices and slots without having to take apart the hole door panel, and obviously keep all the components lubricated enough as to move independently without squeaking.

Comments...please

I believe common silicone lubricant IS the proper way to dress rubber components. My silicone lubricant is a cheapie yellow can from Home Depot. I've used it to lubricate the moonroof seals as well as the window seals. Helps to do it since when you wash your car it dries out the rubber.

I had the same problem. Annoyed me so much that I considered selling my TL with only about 5,000 miles. It has gotten to the point where the rattle is constant and coming from both front doors. I took it to two different dealers and they both said they don't hear it. I'm sure they are just saying that so they don't have to take on the challenge of fixing it because it was actully pretty loud when I drove it with the service techs at the dealers. Anyway, as a last resort I took a can of silicon spray and sprayed it into every slit and crevice in the rubber and plastic molding on top of the doors. It got rid of the constant rattles, but stilled rattled once in a while. The next day I sprayed it again. It has been a week so far and no more rattles. Now all I have to do is figure out how to fix the rattles in the glove compartment area and the rear deck. The dealers I went to also claim to not hear those.

It was the same on my 2003 accord and now on my TL

some white grease, or silicon will fix the problem untill next time.
I Don't know if it's the quality of the rubber ot the design that allow the rubber to dry so easily

Temperature related... I think so...

Garage F-040 did help me fix the rattle/noise on upper window/door frame, however, as for the noise/rattle from the mirror/rubber part, I'll try to get more info in my next visit to the dealer.

Also, that plastic/vanity part of door/window frame seems to be one piece.... I wonder if dealers need to replace the whole thing in order to fix that mirror/rubber part rattle/noise.

Two days, a little more silicone spray after detailing the car..
and still silent form the squeakimg/rattle on the top of the window frame
when the window is totally closed.
It is amazing how we gt used to the noises around us.

Silence while crusing is well appreciated now.

Anyone knows of any othe rubber dressing product to moisturize and protect the material.
The product has to be able to make it sleek and moist.
Suggestions...

Window Top Squeak Source and Fix

Although there have been a number of posts about windows squeaks and rattles, yours most accuratley described my problem in my otherwise awesome '05 TL.

After 4 months I have finally figured out the source on my baby.

Let me orient you to it and then you will be able to go check it on your car:

With the Drivers door closed and the window up (and you outside looking in), place your finger on the upper far right where the glass meets the window frame.

Now roll down the window and put your finger in the exact same spot.

If your car is like mine you will find a very loose rubber flap in there, triangular in shape, which if your hands are small enough you can easily with no pressure at all, fold out (or use a handy pen/pencil to gey under it) and used some spray silicone or liquid graphite (I did both as in all my other vehicles I have found liquid graphite to be a miracle worker).

Fold the rubber corner back in, roll up the window and go take it for a test drive.

BTW, for reasons beyond me, on my vehicle it was only the driver-side that I heard the squeak, and it was only the driver side top upper right gasket that was loose.

Good luck gents - hope this trick works for you too.

Dealer sez that they know all about this as there have been many complaints about this from TL owners. Though they have some ideas on how to fix it , they won't touch it until Acura releases a service bulletin on it.

I will try this tonight - I keep putting it off and it is maddening.

Did you spray right in there or spray on a towel and try to work it in?

Fix did not last

TL'ers:

I am sad to report that after one week in the Florida sun, and also one trip through the car wash, my fix did not last. I still have a window squeak from the drivers side window with window fully rolled up, that sounds like it is coming from the extreme upper corner closest to the pillar.

Back to the drawing board!!!

Please post additional fixes!

I know this one may not be teh solution for many people, but it seems some people got their rattle fixed by this. Just an idea...
