Red face window AUTO switch

hey guys. Ive tried searching but couldnt find anything or im not using the right words for the search. but, I hate how only the front windows have the Auto switch for the windows. Does anyone know we can make all the switches AUTO? would we need to just change out the switches or or parts we may need to make them all AUTO?

i actually like that they are not all AUTO, i find it sometimes gets in the way when you just want to crack the window. i rarely drive with all windows all the way down. interesting thought though. i have never heard of anyone doing this yet...

just looked in the book. it appears the auto feature is built into the window motors and incorporated into the door multiples control unit. aka F* that. you could buy pulse timers and push the button down/up twice and set the timer for the amount it takes to go from full up to full down and your set. wouldn't be much. personally wouldn't do it but its up to you. there's probably a module for it as well specifically for that feature might want to check kpelectronics as they make the auto up feature for all windows with the stock remote.

I can bet you can find a module that will do that if you google search intensively.

The functionality may already be built in since the key fob will roll down all the windows and open the sunroof.

its all pulsed and monitored. im sure at some point there will be a module if enough people want it. im not willing to put in the hours to figure it out. im sure its more tedious than hard to do. if u take apart the door panel and see how many wires go into the drivers door, u realize its not only window controls....its mem seat functions, mirrors, windows, alarm... computer lines.

I was thinking this the other day! Thanks for the insight. Guess not. Oh well...I usually set the sunroof and front ones going and then manually put up the backs.

its not that hard. dei has pulse timers for like 15 bucks. get two, make 8 connections and your done. i have one pulse timer in my house, when i get back home in two weeks i'll do one since i have to take off my panel to wire up my mirrors.

i meant DC pulsed from the computer not the pulse timer......it sends out dc pulses to monitor the lines so everytime u press it... its monitored through dc pulses.... so it can be a pulse for 1 sec but gives out three 2ms pulses at 5 vdc ....it can mean anything like "the window is down next time the button is pressed down dont activate" on the can b and f lines. the f lines transfer rates and extremely high for airbags and crash sensors the can b lines are for everything else in the multiplexed system in the car.

Ever since I sat in the 250 and realized all windows were auto.. I was wondering when someone would make a thread about it for the TL or come up with something.
I don't know what pulse timers or anything are...
But if you make the rear windows auto as well, is there a device you would need to get so the window knows that there is an object in the way of it closing?

So far it seems as if the time needed to make this happen isn't worth it. But, yes, I'd also like this feature. But as o4Komodo stated, Lexus has this feature in their cars, so does Audi, and others. I'd like it in my TL as well.

I agree...but I don't think it's worth it at this point.

yea the sensor is built into the window regulator for the window to go down after some sort of shock. and the switches would have to be changed as well because the front buttons have a 2 stage button where u press lightly for normal window use and heavier press for auto. the rears dont have that. there would be a big issue with the sensor for the regulator....it would cost quite a lot and raise a safety issue if u dont do the regulators as well.

and imagine if you didn't have the safety feature and something that doesn't GIVE gets caught...it'll shatter the window.

I say, auto up the fronts and roof and then hold the backs up in one fell swoop. If that's too much work...DON'T put the backs down!
