wimpy trunk light

Has anyone successfully upgraded the light in the trunk? I'd like to install a brighter light, but I'm not sure of what the OEM system can handle. I don't want to melt the light cover either.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Keep a flash light back there.

But seriously, what about replacing the incadencent bulb with a multi-LED. 9 LEDS should be brighter.

that is pretty lacking. On two occasions I actually went on a search for a possibly burnt out bulb - no luck...just real dim

I thought he asked a question, not voiced a complaint. I guess it is all in the way you read it, like is the cup half full or half empty.

I replaced the 5 watt trunk lamp bulb with an 11 watt Malibu yard light bulb from Home Depot - outdoor lighting section. No problems with the higher wattage. You could bump it up from 5 to 7 watts if you don't want to go that high with the 11 watts. Could even change out the overhead interior (front & rear) as well as the door lamps too.

I thought so too--ended up picking up 2 door lights from a Acura Legend with charcoal interior and installed them into the sides of the trunk. (Had to cut into the trunk lining though for a flush fit)

I replaced the trunk bulb with a halogen street light. Now I have to wear sunglasses to open my trunk and there's no room for luggage..

I wish there were an easy way to turn off the trunk light, like when you are at a tailgate. In my old 1986 Legend I used to pull the fuse for that light. Now I just close the trunk lid. This is hardly unique to the TL as my last Accord was the same.
