Why they drop OnStar?
My guess is that it is either one of two things:
A) Acura had a contract with GM to use it for a brief period of time
B) It wasn't profitable enough to install (not enough use and/or demand)

I cannot disagree more:
"Great feature, but a little pricey considering how cheap mobile phone plans are these days."
OnStar is not a cell phone. It is a service that offers (at a minimum) remote lockout, remote alarm set off (if you lose your car in a parking lot or such), Air Bag notification, etc. The "Personal Calling Minutes" (which are way too expensive IMHO) are not required at all. I purchase 30 mins of personal calling to use for emergencies.
"Who really need OnStar to unlock your car? If you have a cell phone, OnStar is almost useless."
Tell that to the many people who have had an accident in BFE and OnStar was able to direct emergency services right to their location.
$199 a year is a small price to pay for the services that OnStar offers. For those that use the "I'll never use it arguement", I can offer this. I have owned 4 cars now that had/have airbags. I've never seen them, so why the #$%# should I pay for them. I've owned 6 cars with alarm systems. They have never gone off, I've never been broken into, so why should I pay for it. The answer is quite simply, you pay for them, but you pray that you never have a need for them. I hope I never need the services that OnStar offers (on the basic package) but I sleep better at night knowing they are there.
I think OnStar is great. I will have it the entire length of my 42 month lease on my '03 TL-S.

Excluding the emergency service, it has little value to ME. I have not locked keys in a car since I was 13.
All IMO.

I know it is more than a cell phone, and have it on my 03 TLS-Navi.

My main reason for having it, if I could get my hands on it, would be to have my car located if fit were stolen. It's cheaper than LoJack!
