Question Who Would Win Impala SS vs Bolted 2G TL-S

i got a buddy at work who has a 1996 impala ss 5.7L v8 automatic with exhaust he says it has 300hp and 330lb/ft torque at the crank. me n him are planning to go track when it opens in first week of april so ill make another thread to post the results but just for fun who do you guys think will win?

my mods are in my sig and i will have a mdx spacer for the intake manifold by next week which should give me a little more torque.

I think it'll definetely be an interesting race. I think they make 260 horsepower stock as well, right?

Are you going from a dig or a roll? You might stand a better chance from a roll.

You'll take him. Those re-neck mobiles trapped around 90 mph on a good day.

I think you got it as long as you dont spin crazy off the line. those cars weigh over 4,000 pounds and trap low 90mph in stock form. When u say exhuast is it just a cat back or the enitre set up like headers and no cats?

I wouldn't be too worried. You will be playing catchup though without a doubt. You should pass him once you hit 3rd around 70mph and put a couple cars on him without too much trouble.

I have raced that particular model Impalla SS. Off the line he should take you but by the top of 1st gear into the start of 2nd gear you will be pulling strong. When I raced this guy in his Impalla SS (Unknown mods) he pulled on me right out of the hole. My front bumper was at his rear bumper. But I pulled hard on him in 2nd gear and had many cars by the 1/4 mile. That was when I had just Intake.

My father's stock '96 SS used to run pretty consistent high 14s@94-95 when we took it to the track on a good day. Quite a heavy car, and the LT1 isn't too amazing especially stock. However, if he has a healthy engine and a decent tune it may give you a good run. They can pick up a good bit on just a tune. The catback and intake are probably negligible in terms of gains.
