TL owners only! Which audio system mode do you use most?

 

Cassettes, mainly because I have about 300 that I made at home from other sources so they have exactly what I want on them.

 

CD now. DVD-A use will increase if the format takes off. I currently have 3.

 

XM Rules! I never in a million years thought I'd ever type that let alone ante up for $10 a month, but it is by far my fave feature in the TL. No commercials. Nuff said. BJ

 

XM. It's got it all: commercial free music of all genres, talk radio with limited commercials and much better sound quality that FM. So many choices so little time!

 

I recently bought 9 DVD-A's, but own over 1,000 CD's. So CD's have it by far

 

Ron A, we could be the only two still living in the past. While tons of ppl have complained how bad 04TL doesn't come with MP3 and how useless 04TL equip with Cassettes. However, I have to say tons of my old songs are still in the tapes, we still love what we had in the past. Besides XM, I use Cassettes more than CD/DVD-A.

I should move to Florida soon... (No offense to FL)

 

toss up between cd and radio(not XM). i only have one dvda, and i'm in no rush to buy any more.

 

Now that I can make DVD-As, I have to say DVD-A but with CD-quality audio tracks.

I listen to XM 90% of the time. I barely use my iPod in the car anymore, and frankly have never played a CD in the car. I'm really surprised, but XM plays most of what I want. I'm also a news junkie, so CNN, Fox, MSNBC, and the BBC are played heavily.

 

Since we don't get XM up here in Canada and I haven't found that many DVD-A's that I want I listen to CD's the most.

 

XM still amazes me. I am a big fan of sports and talk radio, but I must say that I listen to the music channels more than anything. I love the mix and the no commercials...

 

Our TLs play cassettes??? Who knew?

XM because of variety, followed very closely by CDs & DVD-As.

 

I listen to all the little rattling in the car and to all the tire flatspotting!

XM is pretty good also!

 

I'm with UminChuon this one....XM because of it's variety and introduction to music I might not otherwise get a chance to hear, followed by CDs and DVD-A (currently have 5, expect to get more). Listen to radio only when taking daughter to school (although she's hooked on XM now too) and when my favorite talk show host (Jay Severin) is on.

The Casette pretty much just eats up dash real estate for me.

 

XM Radio is trash. Poor sound quality and they always play the same songs (on the stations I listen to). I can't believe XM is leading this poll. I can't even listen to it when its free! Believe me, I've even tried a few times to listen to it thinking I wasn't giving it a fair chance. No way, it last 5 minutes max and its off. Unreal. Rant over.

 

As of right now......XM, mostly. I use FM in the morning commute for traffic (no XM traffic report for Virginia Beach available yet....and some Classic Rock to get my blood running), third would be CD/DVD-A, then my iPod w/ FM transmitter next. I do wish Acura had included a direct input for an iPod.....seems like perhaps they missed the boat on that one. Chrysler has one in the Pacifica, but that alone certainly was not enough to make me waiver!

 

I wish all XM stations sounded as good as Mix (22) and Watercolors (71?).

There is a significant difference between stations, IMHO.

 

I think it's a tie between CDs and XM. I was turned off the crappy sound on XM at first but I love the variety. However, back to radio soon because XM has no Yankee games!

What do I listen to: Dave Matthews Band CDs. All day, all night.

 

The Central Park Concert DVDs make good 5.1 DMB listening!

I am very surprised by the dominance of XM in this poll; I thought FM and CDs would be stronger than they are.

That'll probably be one the first DVDs I send to you to be converted into DTS.

 

I picked up 6 DVD-A's and have been cycling through them since I got the car- I'm paid up for XM for 4 years but can't get over the DVD-A sound quality. My favorite of the 6 - A "The Fix" Gretest Hits DVD-A

 

XM, especially XM CAFE and BBC.

I lived in Philly for a couple years and listened to WXPN religiously, and even listen to their live internet feed at the office (esp. World Cafe). I have been craving the same diversity in my car (although sadly XM doesn't carry XPN or World Cafe, as far as I can tell). Anyway, what variety. Love it.

Btw, when I was shopping, I stopped in to look at a Saab 9-3, and asked about XM, enthusiastically saying that it was a must have feature. The salesperson said, "You're kidding right? Buying a car based on the radio?" (Obviously the guy was selling a SAAB!)

Hmmm ... Well, I'll give the Dave Matthews Band the credit that it's due ... They actually have a solid ranking at the top of my list for "The Worst Concert I have ever been to" (An honor previously held for well over a decade by "Heart"). People were leaving the concert in droves before the middle of the show, and you don't see that often.

I have never felt so ripped off at a concert before - I tried to place a complaint with somebody ... anybody ... who could at least get me a refund, and made the mistake of placing my complaints on the Dave Matthews website (which claimed at the time that all E-Mails were read). Got a package response back after a few days saying "Thanks for being a loyal member of the Dave Matthews fan club!" and promptly got added to a music spam list that I'm still trying to get off of. My message obviously hadn't been read by anyone human.

The Dave Matthews concert may be the last rock concert I'll ever go to. I'll probably just stick to classical and small jazz clubs from here on out ...

 

Sorry to hear that. Every DMB concert I've ever been to has been awesome and NO ONE leaves early.

 

xm is trash? clueless.

 

It's not even close. I thought I'd never pay for a music subscription, but I listen to XM the most... and by far. I think over 98% of my listening is to XM.

 

I mostly listen to XM, but now that may change since I bought discWelder...99 CD quality songs on one disc works well for me. :-)

But the DVD-A is by far the best sounding audio in the car...I just wish there were more discs out already!

I probably still listen to CDs the most, but XM is a very close 2nd, then DVD-A. I almost never listen to AM/FM radio anymore. Still haven't tried the cassette player.

 

Those of you with iPods...how do you hook it up the the TL stereo? FM modulator (wired or un-wired), or do you use a cassette adapter? How's the sound quality?

Someone above mentioned they noticed sound quality varies between XM channels. I was noticing the same thing...could it be that some channels are more compressed than others?

As for me, I listen to mostly DVD-A, with XM close behind. Once the newness wears off, I'll probably go back to my books on CD (audible.com) to make the commute shorter.

Look for the DiscWelder Bronze thread. That's how people have been doing it. I've burned 3 DVD-A discs now, each with 99 tracks of the music I like (full albums). So I've got 297 tracks of music on 3 physical pieces of media.

 

I love the audio in this car and after someone checks it out they always come away with, "What a great sound system", and "The engine and the ride are so smooth".

Gotta love Acura!

I have a few DVD-A's on order (Sammy Hagar and R.E.M), but I am on XM at least 90% of the time. I only wish Howard Stern would make the jump to XM since we "lost" him down here in Vice City thanks to the fine folks at Clear Channel. :diablotin

 

In between the XM and some DVD's I too listen to the squeaks and rattles, at least they made my back deck quite!
