What Did you Have Before Your 04 TL?

Not sure if this has been done yet.

I traded in my 2003 TL non/Navi for the 04 TL

Had a 99M3 Convertable. It had the Dinan Stage 4 upgrade. The only thing, it was an automatic. Hated it. I believe my 04 TL 6MT is faster. Also was too small with kids.

Surpise

I'm surprised at a coulple of the response:

:wow:

02 MDX (wow, I would like to have that and the 04 TL)

03 WRX (those are cool cars too, can you compare the cars for me)

Thanks,

Mike Smeezy

I drove a 93 Accord EX named Betsy for 10 years until she was stolen last November, which put me in the market for a new TL. When you have a car that long you know when to push her and when to lay off. Well, this damn theif tried to outrun the cops and ended up losing control and plowing through a concrete wall and then into someone's house. Needless to say, Betsy was dead (totaled) and the theif wasn't much better. Oh... she lived but now has a mangled left arm. Betsy went out in a blaze of glory.

2001 BMW 330i w/sport pkg. I was at the end of a lease so opted for the TL over another Bimmer. Couldn't get over the value of the TL vs. a comparably equipped 04 330i. We also have an 01 MDX and have been very pleased with Acura. The only thing the TL gives up to the 330i is handling capability. So far I have no regrets.

I had the 92 EX-R, same as your EX in the USA and it was the most reliable car I have ever had. It was still running like a charm when I sold it for my TL.

2002 TL-P. I loved the car, but once I laid eyes on the features of the 2004, I decided I HAD to upgrade after only less than 2 years owning the TL-P.

Vffr1...comparing the WRX and TL

Obviously the WRX is alot sportier...well maybe not so obviously for those who dont know the car very well. When I got the TL is was mainly due to the fact my wife cannot drive a standard and we went car shopping for her. Went by the Acura dealer and once I got behind the wheel of the TL I knew the WRx was toast...fell in love with the TL immediately and had to have it.

On to the comparison

Wrx wins in the following areas
- brakes
- general speediness abnd level of control
- handling...TL may close the gap with better rubber..
- fun to drive
- character
- aftermarket support

TL Wins
- refinement
- sexiness
- interior and amenities
- Navi...Woohoo no more getting lost!!!
- stereo
- gauges
- comfort

Not to sell the Tl short in the handling or speed departments. Im sure the TL would spank the WRX after 60 mph and would be right on the WRX's ass till 60 too even with auto. Im also pretty confident the TL will handle almost as well with better rubber than the stock stuff. I guess you can boil the dynamic advantage the WRX had of all wheel drive and 500 lbs less weight the WRX had over the TL. I miss the WRX but it was time to grow up a bit.

2003 TL-S. Had it for only 12 months and 10,000 miles. Idiot, should've been more patient and waited for the 2004 :smackhead

I thought that because 2004 was going to be so much more expensive, I wouldn't be too tempted to upgrade. Yeah, right...

Only a few thousand of this color/trans combination were made and was the ONLY year/model Accord prior to the 2001 model year with BOTH stereo controls on the steering wheel and a stick shift in the same car.

Original Owner About Say Goodbye After 14½ years..........

Checked Kelly Blue Book on-line today: Still 20% of sticker despite 140K miles!!! - And that's not including the added pwr roof :p

My Other Prior Vehicles:
'86 Accord LX - A Beyond Lemon (YES!!!!) bought back by Honda
'76 Buick Century Sport - Pace Car for Bicentenial Indy 500
1963 Buick Riviera - Purchased New by my dad and probably the only one of these that could seriously out pace the new TL. 401 cubes, 325 HP, 445 ft-lbs torque at only 2800 RPM -The car that tought me the meaning of Warp Speed. - R.I.P.

Ordering:
'04 TL - Green, Camel, 6MT, Navi ... for end of Winter delivery. The new TL will have been in production for 6 months and I figure they'll probably have all the tire, vibration, and rattle issues straightened out by then.

Started giving me more and more problems - tired of a heavy stick in traffic.

Was looking at at '02 vette and 350Z, but the TL Interior plus the NAVI - DONE
