WDP Repaint..Update..Pics

After 5 longs weeks of back and forth about my WDP yellow bumper, I think I'm finally pleased. I'm posting 1 before pic and 1 after pic. To my standards it's not perfect, but probably one of the better looking matches.

The dealer ended up sending it out to a local bodyshop in Charlotte,NC. Then finally, they had to replace the bumper cover and paint if fresh on the new bumper cover.

The first is the before, the other two are the after pics. The first one is when it was the yellow color and looked terrible. It's a big improvement.

Looks good, and certainly a shame you had to go through all the aggrevation, but I must add, keep an eye on the front bumper for any small rock, or debris chips. It takes a a good shop to make the correct consistency for the paint to hold up under such a harsh environment. Normally, non factory painted bumpers have a tendency to deteriorate much more quickly, but you'll know in a short period of time if no nicks after driving.

Good Luck

See Hendrick Acura is a good dealership. I always thought they were great anyway.

Had the same problem with my '05 WDP ... I became friendly with a Service Manager at the dealership near my house (not the one I bought it from) and he agreed to have it repainted for free, he said Acura allows for 1 repaint of the bumpers (front and rear I'm guessing) if the paint match is off at time of purchase...
Congrats and Im glad you're happy w/ your car now...I know it made a huge difference for me too...

Very nice. I have a WDP and I'd like to do this myself but not unless they are scratched up and due for a facelift. I wonder if the A-spec body kit parts are yet another different hue of white so you end up with a tri-tone paint scheme.

So now when you look at your sideviews do they look yellowish as well ?

IMO, it looks almost perfect in the right light. If you get down and look very closely from the side, it is the same color of paint. Another one of those "depends on how the light hits it" issues. My before picture does not show how bad it really was. It was just a nasty color yellow, ruined the whole car for me.
I thought about the A-spec kit, but I fear that it will be off and drive me crazy. Obviously I don't let things go very easily, since this took over 5 weeks to fix. As soon as they replaced my bumper cover the paint turned out better.

There was a brand new 07 TL - S at my local dealer in Stockton, CA in WDP

Brand new and the A-Spec kit looked like it did not match sitting on the showroom floor, from far away especially in direct sunlight they do not look right, they usually look off white or yellow..

I dont get what is so hard about it

well another thing about this that kind of is positive since you leased your car you wont have to worry as much about going over your miles. I mean I dont know about your paticular driving but a lot of people cut it close and this could help you keep them down since you been in a loaner for so long.

That is true about the lease mileage. I leased a Honda once before and ended the lease about 1 year early because I just wanted the newer body style. I'm afraid this is what will happen if I like the 2009 TL alot. In the end, does it depend on your dealer whether or not you can trade out of a lease? It's been a long time since I did the other lease I was talking about.

Also, is it possible for the paint to darken some, I'm being paranoid about it today for some reason!
