Water pump, Starter, etc.
Water pump, Starter, etc.
I have an 08 TL type S with 80 k mi on it. I know the water pump gets replaced with the 100 k service. What is the estimated life of other components like the starter, alternator?
I really never see any threads of these parts wearing out on this forum. My wife has an 03 BMW 325 cic with 84 k mi and everything I have mentioned has been replace and then some.
Thanks in advance for any input.

I replaced my starter around the 90k mile mark.

I have a little over 149k miles on the car now. Original alternator (and owner of the car).

135K on my 04 6MT, original starter and alternator. It's not a given just yet, but it's also not rare to hear of the 04-05 starters dying. Can be replaced via DIY for under $100.
Have heard very little if nothing on alternator issues.
Water pump is not required to be replaced during the TB replacement, but IMO it's very cost effective preventive maintenance and most people do it. Tons of TB parts info in Majofo's TB DIY thread.
