Voicemail using HFL...Any workarounds?

I love my new NBP, and my most significant concern is the difficulty in using the Handsfree Link to check my work and cell voicemail. The voice recognition accepts "pause" as a command, but it doesn't seem to execute the request when it dials.

Has anyone figured out a way to have the Handsfree device enter your password and "listen to messages" command without having to continually press the HFL button and having a "call voicemail" command, followed by a "password" command?

Since my Sony T616 will handle pauses well, I've been using the phone to dial, and then I've been transferring the call to the HFL once the commands are entered. It's inconvenient, and I'm hoping there's a better way.

Why would Acura allow a "pause" to be entered in the number dialing sequence, and not use it when you actually dial?

Yes, it's very bothersome.

So far I have found anyone successfully recording their commands into HFL.

I use this... different than yours...

After dialing by using HFL, I operate Cell's keypads to dial the password or numbers while listening to HFL...

One thing I would like to do is put in a speed dial on my phone that dials my voicemail number, pauses, and then the PIN. However, if I start the call on my phone, the HFL doesn't pick it up and I end up transferring it manually.

My bluetooth headset does pick up the call when initiated from the phone, why doesn't the HFL?

When the voicemail answers I use the "send" command to enter the password digits and select the menu items. When the voicemail says, "please enter your password" I say, "Send xxxx", then when it prompts me or the digits appear on the MID, I say "Yes" right away.

I haven't figured out how to enter the # sign via voice though. Some systems ask you to enter something (like your account number or password) then the # sign.

Works ok for me.

You can just say "pound" to get the # sign. I just wish there was a way to store the whole sequence instead of having to press the button at least twice, and acknowledge to the car that the number is correct.

I have a Sony Ericsson T608 (Sprint unlocked for use on Verizon) and have found an acceptable workaround that may also work with the T616. On the T608 I have my voicemail number, pauses and pin number all stored in one string. Instead of using the Acura HFL button on the steering wheel, when I want to check my voicemail, I pick up the T608 and say "voicemail" into the Sony cellphone. The T608 immediately starts to dial the entire string of numbers and pauses through the Acura HFL with no prompting to transfer the call. The MID shows "In Use" and I can hear all of the tones being dialed and then my voicemail messages through the HFL. When I'm done listening to the voicemails I press the End button on the Acura HFL to end the call.

Interesting. So, does this work with any call initiated through the T608? The HFL picks it up automatically? If so, then there must be something different with my T616. Maybe there's a setting to make this work on the phone?

I'm not sure what setting (if any) is allowing this to happen. I actually stumbled across this because I wanted to place a call to someone whose number I had stored in the voicedial menu of the T608 but not yet programmed into the Acura HFL. I noticed that once I spoke the person's name into the T608, while in the car, the Acura HFL immediately and automatically picked up the call. I was very surprised and decided to try calling voicemail. Sure enough as soon as I said "voicemail" into the phone the Acura MID displayed the "In Use" sign and all of the stored numbers, pauses and pin number were sent. This sure beats the heck out of having to press the HFL button and say "XXXX send" to enter pin numbers etc... The only caveat is that since I am speaking into the Sony T608's voicemenu I must first lower the volume on the Acura sound system. I don't have a problem with that.
