anyone in the philly area willing to help a brotha out if I order these pieces? Rather not get overcharged by the stealership. My car is under warranty and currently not having any issues , but rather spend $77 and play it safe.

I did this on saturday. i bought my stuff from hondapartsnow.com.
This was very easy. I spent more time looking for my trouble light then actually doing the work.
Turn wheels all the way to the left, jack car up enough to get your arms in. Basically i sat on the ground facing into the wheel well, you don't have to get on your back or slide under the car. You can see the cover for the bottom sensor, next to it is a plastic cover, i just moved it out of the way, now you can see the top sensor. unclip wire, 22mm wrench to break loose, unthread, put in new sensor with new washer, snug tight.
Lower sensor was more of a pain, 10mm bolt holds the top of a small cover down, remove that bolt, bend cover down a little, unclip wire, 22mm wrench, remove sensor, this one does leak a little when you pull the sensor out, replace sensor, put the 10mm bolt back, lower car. Done.
15 minutes at most.
I did not feel any difference, i would like to think i do but i don't. I did not have any shudder problems that were mentioned before. My car has about 53k on it. I did the 3x3 tranny fluid change method in January.

After about 500 miles with these sensors in, I say they made a good difference.

Finally did mine. I did not expect such a difference. I've noticed the shifting has become sloppy and erratic. It has a bump shift and is very inconsistant in both shift firmness and rpm. I did not realize how bad it was because it got worse gradually.
Now shifts are very fast, snappier, and even though it shifts quicker and harder, it doesn't snap my neck back like it did before if that makes sense.
I wish I could put into words exactly how much of a difference this made. The car feels much more solid now. The only thing I regret is not doing this sooner.
I did not reset the computer or change the fluid because I wanted a legit before and after comparison. I tapped my old sensors out and there was no crud in them. My fluid is pretty clean so it's not an issue with the sensors getting crudded up and reading wrong. I'm hoping there hasn't been too much damage from driving the car for so long with it shifting sloppy.

Hey Guys, i read thru the thread and didnt see a "listing" of people who did this maintenance item. I was hoping that since the thread is growing, we could have a running list of people who have done it indicating the mileage it was done at, noticed results of swapping switches, along with year of the car. This "data collection" is in hopes of getting an idea of how many people it has helped, along with judging/setting some sort of interval when we should be changing them out ( i think i read somewhere it should be something like 40K miles by someone's suggestion?)
Like for example,
1. I hate cars [2006 TL] [MILES?] Before Change: Transmission bump present after 74K miles. After Results: Positive - Firmer, Quicker, Crisper Shifts
Sorry, I hate cars, i kinda picked on you. Please change if you feel its necessary.

wow that's pretty bold of you.. If you guys want to make a list then make a list, it's no single poster's responsibility. IHC has contributed more than enough. There's only a handful who have reported back anyways so not really necessary IMO..

??? I wasn't trying to be a jerk, but what is the point of someone making a list on say page 14 out of 34, no one will ever find it. If it is in the original post where the best information is then it is easy for people to find in the future instead of wading through page after page of posts that add nothing. Right?
#221
Alright guys starting it right now my car sometimes shift perfectly fine other times it will feel like its holding a gear to long and other times I feel the SHUDDER I just got the TL 2 weeks ago and want to make sure it runs perfect. I got 67XXX miles on her and she seemed to be mistreated by her previous owner somewhat. I will post comments after install is completed.

I gotcha.. just because IHC was the OP doesn't mean he can edit his original post. Only a Mod can.. but if this thread grows.. a mod might edit or slip in a post under the original with a cliffs. Usually if a thread grows by that much someone will be nice enough to make a list / cliffs and down the line it gets updated every few pages.. this thread is only 6 pages so it's not bad to read through. You're new.. you get a pass..
edit: damn.. 2.6T Starion.. that sounds like a fun project car.

Yes, i've had it for 9 years now and its been nothing but fun. Once i got it running right it takes a beating like no other. It was a fun car to learn about turbos and how to fix stuff yourself cause with something that old it always needs fixing.
Anyway! Back to people's results/questions....

I changed my sensors and got in my car to see if it fixed the problems. When I was driving I was still getting the SHUDDERING going on I was very mad!!!! I then went to a local transmission place to see if I could get the tranny flushed and they quoted me 130.
I thought to myself this has to be my last hope. So I schedule a appointment to get it flushed next Thursday.
I got back in my car and BANG the fucking shuddering is GONE. I was shocked.I guess the sensor needed to be restarted or something. I went driving around town going up hills putting load on the tranny and NOTHING works great like if I had just gotten a new tranny put in. I took pictures for the DIY page when I get a chance ill post them I HATE CARS thank you soooooooo much Im still going to get my tranny fluid changed just in case. And for the rest of you non believers DO It suck it up the 77 dollars its worth every penny.
67XXX miles shuddering is gone shifting is CRISP PERFECT and on time.

Listen I just replaced my sensors and I placed my order from that website site. I had to wait three weeks for it to come in. I heard if you go to the dealership you can get it within 2 to 3 days. The company does not charge you until you have received the product if you do not want to wait cancel the order. Just a suggestion

I copied this from sixsixfour's new Garage Thread (A-110) & DIY.. this is a notice to all '07 & '08 TL owners.. your transmission was redesigned if you didn't know.. (I didn't) and you have two (2) 3rd clutch pressure switches & one (1) 4th clutch switch.. the P/N is different as well.. I couldn't dig up much info yet on the switches.. I'll update if I find out more. So the DIY is different for you guys.. shouldn't be much more difficult though.

The standard transmission for both the TL and TL Type-S is an all-new 5-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift and Grade Logic Control. Similar to the transmission in the RL luxury sedan, this two-wheel drive version features thicker and larger gears than the previous automatic for increased torque capacity. It is also more compact than the previous 5-speed automatic. TL Type-S models have an even more aggressive shift program, as well as the Paddle Shifters mounted on the steering wheel. The Sequential SportShift has been re-programmed to provide smooth downshifts by 'blipping' the throttle between gears, matching revs and significantly improving overall driving smoothness.
Optional only on the TL Type-S is a 6-speed manual transmission. For 2007, the transmission has been strengthened for increased durability with the more powerful 3.5-liter engine.

I have spoken with a few builders and have been told that electronics are an issue with the Honda 5-speed automatics, but I'm not sure if preemptively replacing the electronics is needed for preventive maintenance.
Remember that the newer 5-speed automatics have been fairly reliable compared to its predecessors. Sure, if you have noticed a deterioration in shift quality that has not been cured by a fluid change, then replacing them may be worth a try. But if there's nothing wrong with your transmission, I don't see why you should replace them.
From my experience in auto class and auto service, I would never throw parts at a problem without a proper diagnosis. Therefore, I think replacing parts based on the positive experiences reported by a few individuals is not a terribly smart thing to do.

Even though it greatly improves shift quality you would not replace the sensors?
Obviously threre's something wrong when it's shuddering or when the sensors vastly improve shift quality. You can't imagine the difference.
I don't get you. We found the cure to these transmission problems and you dismiss it as nothing. Next time you experience the shudder, keep in mind what you said here and don't spend the $77 to cure it.
And Mike, don't take this the wrong way but your auto classes only go so far. I've caught you plenty times on BITOG and here where it was obvious you don't have a complete grasp on some subjects.

i replaced these sensors at 62750 miles and i'm at 63550 right now....just about anytime the rpm goes above 2.5k the tranny will start to slip and not change gears...maybe i changed mine a little to late the fluid was changed at 60.5k
