Motorola Preps CDMA Phone with Bluetooth
Today, 2:45 PM source: FCC
updated The FCC yesterday approved the Motorola V710, a new tri-mode CDMA phone with integrated Bluetooth for Verizon Wireless. The clamshell-style model sports dual color displays and a camera with flash. A small memory card slot, video messaging, BREW, and "advanced" voice dialing round out the feature set. The FCC documents include photos of the phone with a Verizon logo. The first North American CDMA Bluetooth phone was the Sony Ericsson T608, which has seen only limited production and distribution following Sony Ericsson's exit from the CDMA market. A Motorola spokesperson declined to comment. OK everyone? No guarentee on hands free profile though.

I almost forgot... I posted about the 710 last month. I'm so glad it got approved. I was planning on keeping my broken-antenna StarTAC forever and just using my earpiece, but hopefully within a year I won't have to!

This is indeed a happy day!
By the way (RETS) I still use a Startac too, although not in a hospital. I have tried other phones (briefly the 270c, acquired before the TL, in anticipation of the TL, and before people had noted that it would not work with the TL), and keep going back to the Startac. But I will happily dump it for the 710 when it becomes available.
And, for NeuronBob...
Until the new phone comes out, I'd be happy to pop an extra antenna I have sitting around here in the mail to you. I replaced the antennas on both my Startac and my ex-wife's with Motorola stubby antennas, so I have the originals here. I like to keep an original in case I ever need to swap back, for service or something, but I can definitely spare one of them, so just say the word, and it's yours. (Feel free to e-mail me at ajw4@cornell.edu if you want it, with details of where to mail it to you.)
Can't wait to use bluetooth in the TL...

We all forget what always happens. They will release a great new phone that we all love, but it will have about 15 min talk time, or 2 hr standy battery that will deteriorate quickly over time. Stupid phones

Just wondering if anyone here has any idea of what this phone might cost. I imagine for those of us that have sunk $35K into the TL, and have been dieing for this phone, we'll probably buy it at pretty much any price. But even so, I am curious. Any ideas?

PS-Neuronbob--did you see my offer above? I'm thinking you may not have, as from what I know about you I think if you had you would have replied, whether you wanted the antenna or not.

I saw your offer! I'll take it. (Check your PM in a coupla minutes.)
Edit: My guess is that the phone will cost $250-300. Most people who can afford a TL can afford that, I'm quite sure.
