Type S new rotors and pads question?

I need to get my rotors and my pads replaced on my '07 Type S. I like the oem rotors and pads, except for the dust. I'm at 28.2k miles. But I want to get drilled/slotted rotors this time, I like the look of them a lot, but I want to keep the same, or better braking power, also I don't know if I should get the same OEM brembo pads or go with a different set. I have been looking at Rotora and brembo rotors, any suggestions? I need to know how long they last, since I have replaced my pads twice already, every 14K.

I heard duralast gold cmax works just as good as the oem brembo pads. They dont dust as much as the oems. They are also a lot cheaper than the oem brembo pads. I just got a new set of brembo pads for $150 on ebay. Not sure about rotors.

Did you get them from Josh at Excelerate? Let me know, how they go, since I'm planning on having a decision by mid next week, thanks.

I'm thinking when the time comes to get the R1Concepts Premium rotors and the CMAX Gold ceramic pads. I had the R1Concepts on my old TSX and really liked them.

X2? I was reading about this as well, some members have replaced rotors, pads, ss lines, and also have done a brake fluid flush.. Is all of this necessary to put drilled/slotted rotors? I'm getting more confused.... I'm thinking about going back to OEM rotors and pads... or

I'm not replacing the lines or fluid yet. Maybe later. It's not necessary, especially for just daily driving... I'm not doing autocross or anything!

i would say go with the CMAX gold pads, and r1concept premium rotors slotted and drilled, i have heard from many forums that the r1 rotors are really good, and the CMAX gold pads have a lifetime warranty, so every time they run out you can go get new ones for free ... and they only cost like 60 bux ... just my two cents

i dont see why it would be a problem, i let my brembos go to far and now they are grinding, so i had to order new rotors, cuz i jacked mine up bad ... if yours aren't at that level, i would think that you could just swap the pads

If ur not cutting into ur rotors or if they're not warped, u should be able to go through another set of pads before u NEED to replace the rotors... Unless ur like me, and wanted to new rotors earlier cause they look nice!

cool!! I'm so confused right now, I still don't know what to go with..I have read every single thread about rotors in the whole acurazine website, let me know how they go, since I'm thinking about those as my first choice, but I think I might just get slotted rotors, since is just for street driving, and also I hear that drilled rotors warp easily.

I went to tirerack last week and autozone. ordered the slotted brembo replacements for the car for 200 shipped next day (tirerack)and they were on sale for 163!!! pads were 60$ in FL with lifetime warranty... the combination of the 2 were unreal and i beat on them just to see if i can get the "no brake effect" going when the rotors get hot n glazed. I by far am impressed. i do get a slight squeak because i noticed on one of my calipers the piston sleeve is torn (so its time to disassemble and rebuild)....i dont know how or when it happened... I also dont know if it went all ther way through. so its not pushing on the pads evenly (is my guess) but regardless the stopping power has increased and the dust....theres almost NONE on a 1200 mile trip from FL to NY and driving around another few miles throughout the weekend.....I swiped the rim last night and barely any dust was on there. the combo of the 2 pieces (slotted rotors n ceramic pads) made a huge difference!!

from what ive learned slotted or solid rotors are best for abusive driving like a track day or just really fast drivers and crossdrilled for everday light driving. the more mass on the rotors the better the heat dispersion so u can use the brakes for a longer period of time without warping the rotors.

Yeah I'm thinking about going with the slotted rotors and ceramic pads as well. Do you what the life of the brembo rotors is? I don't drive very hard on my brakes but I want longer lasting brakes, I replaced my oem pads at 15K, and now I'm at 28.4K and I have to replace them again. The dealership charges $490 just for the pads, but they only last me for a year. So this time I'm not going with the dealership, and also I don't want to go with OEM brembo pads.

the life of the pads is usually less than the rotor and 15k is about correct. but this time around u need to change the rotors as well. almost 30k on them is alot.

BRAKES

....
Both manual and automatic transmission TL Type-S models receive 310 mm Brembo brake rotors and aluminum-alloy front brake calipers that previously were only available on manual transmision-equipped cars. ....

The horse says other-wise: http://www.hondanews.com/categories/735/releases/3745

Pads are Brembo too (at least some are boxed in Brembo boxes).

If you don't abuse the brakes a bit, go with slotted. If you do, then go with a better set of rotora rotors which are cross-drilled. the brembo ones linked to tire-rack are solid rotors that have the holes literally drilled into them. This can lead to cracking a lot faster than casting the rotor with the holes already in the cast.

Does rotora offer cross drilled rotors in gold? fyi tirerack is now sold out of the slotted brembos.

place the order anyway they should backorder it for u and u can at least have em for the price. the gold wears off after the first time u hit the brakes so i wouldnt worry about the color. I only got the front...the rears were ok so i didnt really need to invest into those. when i called to get somethings confirmed about which is better they said if u like continual stopping power slotted or standard brembo rotors are best. crossdrilled slotted n crossdrilled give it an aggressive look but not the stopping power u want if u hit the brakes a lot....like in the city with stop n go traffic as a bad example.... im sure u understand lol

i found this thread on the evo forum, its duralast gold cmax and brembo. The cost is much cheaper than oem.
