Type-S honeycomb grill on 04-06?

Will the plastic 'honeycomb' inserts in the Type-S upper front grill fit into a base TL? Are they even a seperate part from the bumper? I did about an hour of searching and can't find much on the subject. I didn't even see the inserts listed on the bumper schematic for the Type-S.

I'd like to get them for my '04 - They really bring out the grill IMO

I'm talking about the dark plastic honeycomb inserts inside the upper grill.

As a side note, my searchings did leave me w/the impression that the lower grill inserts will not fit a base TL because of the foglight housings, plus the type-S lower grill is a different shape.

okay so I feel dumb... The honeycomb grill did come on all 07-09 TL's, not just the Type-S.

the honeycomb grill is a little bigger than the old one, so you have to cut it.

I bought a similar pattern for my 06 from customcargrills.com and trust me it looks good. Definitely do it.

I would post pics but I dont have any close ups and no reason to go out and buy the TYPE S one.

That's a sweet idea!

I checked out the sight and I light the look of their black powder-coated large hexagon mesh.. Do you have any tips for installation before I buy and get myself into trouble?

I know the thread title is a bit off, but does anyone have any experience to lend towards replacing grill inserts?

Was it tricky getting the mesh in there well/cleanly?

tripnbeats,

for the lower grille inserts for the 07, do they go all the way to the end, or does it leave room for the factory fogs, i'm not crafty enough to cut huge lengths of plastic off, but if it's a little too small, i can possibly use a dremel to trim a little bit.

damn it i want fogs... damn canadian tl and it's DRL

btw, would the 07 fogs fit an 04-06 base or would i have to use the accord fogs?

also, does the 07 lower grille fit on the base front bumper (i know that it's not 100%aligned) cause i'm not sure if an 07 has a lip or not.

Me and Tripnbeats did it with the bumper off the car.. so it made it alot easier. I gotta give him the credit cuz all I did was keep him company really.. he didnt let me do anything... LOL.

We did this at the same time when we were installing fogs on my RJ bumper.

I would lend a hand cuz it not that hard at all.. but North Dakota.. DAM!

tried it, they dont fit, and if you make them fit, the fogs wont work with the fog cut-out. You have to cut the entire fog section out and use accord fogs.

so it'd be better if you use the 07 lower grill, cut out the fog section and fit the accord fogs in there right? any idea how much i gotta trim off the grille?

search 'grate grin' theres a thread that shows this pretty well.

you'll need to cut the whole non-honeycomb area.
