Type S brake pads

need some brakes, i checked tirerack, it doesn't look like they have OEM which is what I want to go with. Do OEMs have a certain name or part number? I looked up other threads all the links are no longer working. if anyone can send me a link to brakepads for type s that would be awesome. either that or i'm just going to have to buy it from the dealer :/

the reason why I switched from OEM is because I couldnt take the dusting any more!
I'd literally wash my car and not even a 2 minute drive would result in MAJOR brake dust all over my freshly cleaned wheels.

I went ceramic and never looked back!

I enjoy the autozone Duralast cmax gold pads!
they are so much better than the OEM pad in terms of dust.

and i couldnt tell the difference in stopping power either.
as stopping power is more of your tires and traction that pads.

oem front type-s pad part # 45022-SEP-A60 cost $225 from the dealer.
Delray Acura - Online Acura Parts Store sells them for $169

DCG = $49.99

I dont understand why you want to spend close to $250 which you can only get from the dealer, Zubi...

the red part is just a metal shim.
it could be any color, most other brake pads leave the metal shim unpainted and shiny.

so the brembo pads had an extra step in assembly. painting the metal shims red. which translates into extra material cost and more labor intensive which = pricer pad.

Zubi, OEM do make a lot of dust. Going with something with less dust is what I would suggest. They don't have to be expensive, anything that will fit your BBK will do you unless you're tracking your car or extremely hard on your brakes.

You sure you have OEM pads? If you aren't having dusting problems, you probably don't have OEM pads.

I felt a difference in the initial bite when I switched, but overall functionality was similar enough. No matter what, it was nice to longer have front wheels that were excessively darker than my rear wheels the next day after washing my car. Also was nice to no longer have to listen to my brakes squeal as I backed out of the garage every morning.

The Stoptech Street Performance pads are designed to dust less than most aftermarket pads and offer increased braking performance. We recommend these whether you are daily driving or doing some performance driving.

I use the Wagner Thermo-Quiet Pads. They're Semi-Metallic, practically no dust, more than adequate stopping power, and only about $25 for the set from Rockauto.

It's nice that Brembo is finally supporting the aftermarket a little better these days. The OEM/Honda/Brembo pads used to be a minimum of $120 for the set (w/ shims & grease).

The red shims on the Aftermarket brembos looks like a different (newer?) design vs the ones on the OEM pads. The OEM ones were re-designed specifically to reduce noise problems typically associated with Brembo's high performance calipers. For $60, I would give red-shim pads a try. Just expect mucho brake dust...
