Two part question

hello all,

So here is the my question

1) I live in a condo and its close to a Acura dealership. Well, one of the mechanic live in my building and he refer me to his co-worker. Since the co-worker has the equipment at the house...

So the deal is any work done he will charge half price on labor what the dealership charges.. So is this worth it ? " the work will be done at his house"

2) My car is 2006 with 80,000 miles anything i should do ? I planning on flushing brake line and steering fluids. They were both inside the car since 2006.. beside that anything else ?

Also should i drain or flush out the radiator fluid... "its been there since 2006"

any thoughts

thanks

certified acura tech doing side work at 1/2 price? no brainer...i'd do it. coolant is not due until the 100k or so or when the car asks with a "5" in the MID.

how about your ATF?

^ Have him change out the AT pressure sensors and ATF. If the brake lines haven't been flushed based on factory service schedule it's possible the ATF was not either. You might want him to change out the cabin filter too- that could also be in need of replacement.

I think it is OK. Flushing both fluids don't need shop equipment, and it is better to flush coolant, too.
As other posts say, ATF need a service if you haven't change for a long time.

My dad is friends with this Honda tech and if the work doesn't require a lift, we bring the cars to his house. Same quality work for like 1/3 the price

^^^^ Good advice. And watch him work and learn how to do it yourself. Then you'll save the other half of the labor! Enjoy your good fortune!

^This.

Unless your neighbor feels uncomfortable showing you his trade. After all, being a honda tech is how he makes a living. Once you learn how to do things yourself, your neighbor will lose one neighborhood friendly customer.

There's also plenty of information here on this forum on certain DIY maintenance. If you have spare time, you should check them out and see if you're capable of doing it yourself!
