What is everyone avg mile/ hr on the trip computer..I've had the car for 3 weeks, have 1600 miles on it. Mostly highway miles, some city driving...my computer reads 19...is that possible???Does that sound right? And no I don't drive like a granny!

I just drove from Seattle to Portland (180 miles each way) and I reset the trip computer when I started. After getting into Portland, I saw 29mpg at an average speed of 65mph.

After driving around the city, it dropped down to 28mpg...but then was back up to 29 when I got home the next day.

When I left I had around 760 miles on the odometer (no I'm well over 1000).

Prior to this trip, I saw a steady 19mpg.

We are talking about MPH, not MPG...

Anyway, the computer takes into account sitting at a red light as well. I assume it takes the total miles driven divided by total time on the trip computer to arrive at the Avg. MPH figure.

My MPH is much lower than I'd think, as a rule, but it is not 19 MPH, and I can't believe it would be 19 after a lot of highway miles. Reset it before next trip and see what happens.

You will be surprised that this is the norm. I had an 85 Cougar that had a trip computer and it was surprising how often I got between 17 and 22 MPH. I would reset it every tank.

Now, if you are driving between towns.... I have had it up to 75 MPH average before.
