Transmission Question
Driving on the interstate yesterday and all of a sudden 06 TL started jerking a little. The RPM gauge was going up to 7 until I let off the gas. Kept on doing this until I pulled off the interstate and stopped. Placed the car back into drive and going about 25-30 mph and the car kept doing it. Keep in mind I had the water pump and timing belt changed about two years ago. Not sure if the transmission is going out or do I need to tune the car up and put all new spark plugs (still running with the original plug and have 185,913 mile). Has anybody else had this issue, what was the cause, and how did you fix issue? Any help in finding the issue is much appreciated.
If the speed kept the same but the RPM's increased without changing gears, then the transmission is slipping. I don't think the spark pugs, water pump or timing belt would have any effect on what you're describing.
He's dead, Jim.....
Unfortunately (just based on your short explanation of RPM spikes it sounds exactly like a transmission failure where it continuously hikes up the RPM trying to catch a gear... it would be nice to have a more detailed description) but it sounds like your transmission is throwing in the towel at 185k. Not entirely unheard of for an 06 automatic around here. I would start looking around for an accord v6 transmission from 2006 or 2007 to swap in as a replacement, or start looking into an independent transmission shop that you can have rebuild your existing one.

I mean even if he did regularly change his ATF it wouldn't really make a difference at this point considering the clutch plates were going to eventually fail regardless, right...? Sure it could have prolonged it, but at this point the damage appears to be done...I'd say 185k miles is a decently good life for the '06 AT.

He probably just meant clutch packs lol
OP, your transmission is definitely on its way out and it's on its last few miles.
I was driving on the back roads when my transmission gave out.
Started slipping, then downshifted to some stupid gear like 2nd and my engine rpms shot up, slowing my car down from like 100 to 0 real quick i nearly went through the windshield (jk, thats an exaggeration).
Ended up losing all gears except 2nd.
Towed it 150 miles to a honda specialized transmission shop.
