I was at the dealership the other day and was very surprised to find that something like 7% of TL's sold are manual. Through my experience with Azine, it seems like quite a few people have manual transmissions (definitely more than 7%).

So....through boredom and curiosity....I thought I'd take a poll and see what the manual to automatic transmission ratio is here on Azine.

I have an auto but if I had a choice I would have gotten a stick

 

My last 2 cars were stick so I got the TL in auto. Stick got old to me lol. Would never trade my TL though

 

in reality 90% of the TL's are auto, 10% manual. You see more 6 speeds here becuase there are more enthusiasts here, and most automobile enthusiasts love their 6MT and the control and extra speed from it.

 

I have one of each. Mine's an '04 manual and my wife's is an '05 automatic. When I bought my '04 TL (July 17, 2004 and it was build in the first week of July), 27% of the inventory of TLs at the dealership where I got mine were manuals. This percentage held for at least a year, going down a little each month. Manuals were very much in demand at the time for this car in my area.

For the record, I won't even consider a car which is not available with a manual transmission so that excludes a lot of choices out there for me.

car enthusiasts usually come out to the forums and usually drive manuals... no coincedence there.

 

One each (sort of)-

'02 TL-S in auto (the only way you could get one)
'06 TL in manual (the only way I wanted one. )

Manual is always my preference, although the new 6 & 7 speed autos out there in other models are pretty impressive.

 

5-Speed Auto. I did want a stick after a while, but when I got the Si, I got sick of driving the stick through my daily commute to work & all the annoying traffic, so I really don't regret my decision. SS Mode is still fun.

 

Automatic.
