Tranny Problem?

i'm lookin into getting a brand new 2005 acura tl. i used to own a 1999 prelude and remember that the other members who had the sport shift were having a lot of tranny problems. i was wondering if this problem still exists with the new tl's?

i really want to buy another manuel car, but i'm getting old and auto would be nice.

Seriously: first, welcome to the site. Second, the information you seek is in the "3G garage", a stickied thread at the top of the forum page. Third, I'll give you the answer anyway. The 2G TL (1999-2003, and especially 2000-2003) had transmission issues. There was a recall on these, and on early-VIN 2004 TLs, up to approximately 14k. After that, there are theoretically no problelms. I will say that I've had no tranny issues in just over 20k miles with my early-VIN TL.

Long story short, you should be OK.

HTH!

I had a TL-S w/ three tranny failures... however, I settled w/ Acura and received a 2004 TL, and I currently have 13k miles on this car and no issues w/ the tranny. I am much much more confident in this new transmission.
