Trading in a 2005 for a 2006

How much of value would they give u trade-in bringing in a 2005 TL that has 7k miles for a new 2006. The 2005 is stock/non-navi.

anyone have any guesses/ballpark figures on how much or even how much money I would lose in the process?

EDIT: The reason I'm asking is because I want to get Nav. Been trying to think of doing it by buying up all the parts. However, someone suggested with all the costs/hassle that it might be cheaper and easier to just buy a new one.
I didn't think so - but I'm up for the possibility if its true.

The Navi is roughly $2000, so if you cant get the new TL with maybe a $3k difference of your old one on the trade in its worth it. Plus you have to realize taxes and stuff all over again.

You need to start by using Kelly's Blue Book or Edmunds to get trade-in info. That'll give you an idea of what your car's worth. Edmunds is overly generous, Kelly's less so, Galvez (pay site) most realistic.

And this is yet another example of my favorite piece of advice for those looking for a TL: If you think about the navi, JUST BUY IT, even if you think you'll never use it. I say this, having once been in this poor person's situation.

I am guessing it will be more like 5-6 grand difference.

Unless you have a really urgent need for the navi, like a job changed that involves a lot of travelling, I would suggest that you wait for the 07's. The first year depreciation is huge and if you have to ask what it will cost , then you should likely wait.

An alternative is to get a Garmin or other ad-in unit. It is much cheaper, can be moved from car to car.

Grey...if it so happens that the Navi is going to cost you $3K (lets say if someone installs it for you) and the 06 TL will cost you more than $5-6K more, I honestly dont think it's worth it. I would give a $2-3K leeway because you did put 7K miles on it, which isnt that much at all....

Honestly though, with all the talk about the 07, and depreciation rates, I think waiting is your best option....

If Nav systems werent so expensive, more people would get them...but out of all nav system, i think the TL has one of the best nav systems on the market...you would be susprised...compared to bmw and mercedes, it is actually better, faster, and easier to use, Audi Nav is just WACK, and that heads up nonsense is more trouble than it is help

Wow, that would certainly be an expensive nav system, particularly given the taxes that you'd have to pay all over again. I agree with others - get a garmin for a couple of years.
