trade-in for another color?

has anyone ever done this? iv had my 05 SSM TL Auto for 8 months, with 40,000 on it. i found a 05 White TL 6 spd (42,xxx), should i trade it in? ive always wanted a white, 6 spd...debating though. i know the ins and outs of my current car, ill have to re-learn another car. i put tint, rear trunk lip, and headlight clearmask on her...what to do, is it really worth the hassle for another color/6spd???

financially ... i dont think it is a very smart move ... because ur moving from a car that will always have higher resale value 5AT to a car with lower resale value 6MT ... however if you are willing to lose a little bit of money ... the fun factor with the 6MT exponentially increases IMHO. If i were in your shoes I would probably do it as long as I don't lose more than 1000 in the trade ... g'luck with whatever you choose to do

I agree with VQ. Save the money for a rainy day and even as a down payment for the 4th generation.

If you really wish to change the color. Get it repainted which will save you more than what you might have to subsidize for the loss on the trade.

A repaint will diminish any future trade value. Any time a car has been painted, the dealer assumes it's been in an accident.

Dont trade for sure. You dont know what the white is going to give you (more transmission work rattles etc) instead stick with urs and be happy what if the white one has flaws, since you know ur ssm tl , U dont know the hidden drawbacks of the wdp Also wait for the 4th Gen TL

Don't forget you're droping another $1800 in taxes that you'll never get back..... at least in PA anyway.

OR go ahead and trade. Guarantee with that behavior that dealer will always get richer and you will never get to have a new car or anything else that is paid for in full.

Keep what you committed to, worry about transmission and color before you buy again in a few years. Just my $.02

how bout u ask the dealer if u can take the wdp for a test drive ... drive it real hard and have a lot of fun, then return it to the dealer ... and carry on with your car ... this way u can enjoy the manual tranny for a bit and it will help u to hold on til next year for the 09's to come out ... maybe?
