And hopefully they can find a solution. Said they would give me a call back.

Go get a Regular trim 5AT if you want the highest top speed. The highest people have reported on the regular 5AT 3rd cars is at around 155+ mph.
Or go get a 6MT regular TL. Their "governed" top speed is 152mph. Also people are actually getting similar results.
Trade in your car man.

TL - built and assembled in Ohio.
Only the tranny on the TL-S is imported from Japan.

I'm just here to put in my experience, I have a 08 TL-S 5at w/ CAI & 3rd cat delete and my car sits at about 133 and dosnt move at all. VSA was on, not sure if that makes a difference but just my experience. Kinda disapointed seeing a Base Model 5at TL do 140....

I don't either. Assuming it is proven to be electronically/ECU limited to 135-ish I do find it mildy annoying/irritating ( ) that of ALL the 3G TL/TL-S trims, ONLY the TL-S 5AT is limited to at that lower speed.
I mean, WTF?? It's like I got gipped.
Even though I'll probably never need it. Even though I've only been over (slighlty) 100 mph once. Even though if I track the car it's unlikely to have a straight long enough to get over 135. Even though .... .
(".... Assuming it is proven to be electronically/ECU limited to 135-ish ...." .
No that is NOT a flame or an arguement, etc. You have an excellent theory (TL/RL) and are building/have built a solid experimental base to support that theory. The last thing to put this to bed once and for all, to prove the theory beyond all doubt, is to "hack" the ECU and see what the limiter is actually set at.)

I have yet to find a solution but I ended up ordering a factory service and electrical manuals to see if I can't come up with something on my own.

But I figure I'll try somethings out 1st but if it starts to get too expensive to find a solution then I am probably going to ditch the car or give it to the old lady so she can drive it and then trade in her older car for a different one for me!

So we have another person who topped out at 134'ish.
Maybe we should start including the time of vehicle purchase too, or better, the manufacture date... Just a thought.
Btw, sorry about the harsh comment in my previous post to you earlier. Meant no harm.

I would still like to confirm that the 07-08 tlp with 5at are limited to something different or the same as us. For you out there with a 07-08 tlp please speak up.

Too lazy to read through the whole thread, but where is the tach in all this madness? I remember on my old Prelude, there was a fuel cut-off to the engine when the RPMs reached a certain point. I'm guessing you might have hit that cut-off point.

Sky is the limit....but apparently for some you the limit is the sky
Pay attention to the tach....gets pretty boring. My foot is flat on the floor for the length of the video. The needle kept moving(pulling) until it gets close to 130 and its where the tach stops dead cold at 5250 RPM.
You got to add 1.3% because of the tire size difference from stock to my aspecs. So 131-132 on the speedo is more like 133-134 actual speed. Don't know what all of you guys have on, but if the diameter of your wheels is different from stock then actual speed(well as measured by Acura anyway) is going to be off.

I think if somebody grabs the ECU from an RL and the ECU from a Type-S auto, you might find them to be awfully similar, similar maps, similar limits? So same engine, same tranny, similar exhaust?, and it's pretty easy to just reuse the ECU from the RL.....not sure if the SH-AWD even comes into play as far as the ECU goes, could be minor.
The RL doesn't have a manual, so I'm guessing it wasn't as easy and thus they either started from scratch or they adapted the 3.2 TL's ECU and kept the higher governor.

The vid shows "4" in the SS gear box. I don't think 5th would've mattered.
What's odd is that is does not appear to act like a fuel cutoff.
In TL4play's video's when he hits the top speed limiter, the car actually stops supplying fuel for a second and then re-engages when the speed drops back from the max. That was true in his 6th gear also, even though he was only running ~5,500 rpm.
What that video looks like is that the car is running very smoothly, with no ECU/ECM interference, at 130 MPH. Maybe it's in the vid and I just missed it. How did it feel jokerunm?
How do the other trim/year Auto's feel/act when they hit the speed limiter? Is a smooth, the car won't go any faster feeling or a jerky, the car just cut off the gas feeling?
#158
^^^ my fault, I didn't see the video
Just saw the video, this is BS....why would they limit it like that.
