Ok people.
If you have a BASE TL this threat does not apply to you and how fast you can go in your BASE TL!! We're talking about the 07-08 Type-S.
Some of us, like the OP and I, have personally firsthand experienced what he's talking about, so we, in our own minds (even if you don't want to believe us) know that it exists.
+1 on the RL tranny theory.

wait... is anyone here on this thread from Canada?
there might also be a slight chance that it is different in Canada also...
coz i do know someone with a Type-S 5AT that went 220km/hr --> 137mph

Hrm. I tried the top speed on the '07 TL-S too on the Atlantic City Expressway on open road. I was stuck at around 133-134mph. Was at that top speed for about 5-10seconds....so I know i wasn't pulling anymore...

Sad part is I was already to blow my stimulus package check on performance mods. But all that has been put on hold until I can figure out if there is a solution.

I talked to my friend on the dealership level at Acura and there is nothing they can do to bump up the top speed. So it looks like we have to come up with a solution ourselves. I know hondata says they have issues and stuff but does anyone think maybe they could just change the top speed limiter and leave everything else the same? I would be ok with that too.

Ugh just got off the phone with Hondata about possibly just reflashing to bump up the limiter while keeping all the maps and stuff the same as OEM. Their reply was "we have no plans on producing anything like that as of now" That to me says it will never happen unless it happens via another company. My hopes are sinking lower and lower.

I just got off the phone with a company called Unichip based on the west coast (Oregan). Talking about a possible reflash. They say they need a car in there to put on the dyno so they can get baseline #'s and check it out to see what they can do.
The person I spoke with on the phone is a gentleman by the name of Dylan (sp?) and he seemed pretty upbeat about it and was the one who suggested that I or someone go into their office or call them to set something up. If I were on the west coast I would certainly do it. Their phone # is 1-866-864-2447 and I also mentioned about the speed limiter. Again he checked with someone else but they say they might be able to do that too. Just depends on the OEM ecu and some other things thats a little more technical than I care to try and explain.
Anyways some of you west coast guys need to check into this.

D,
Your jack stand process is definitive proof that something internal is limiting the speed. And the RL 134mph limit "coincidence" is too compelling to remotely be thrown out, and I would agree that that will be determined as the root cause. Overall, on jacks with no external drag, even in 5th gear from 50mph on up it would rev to the limit. In your case that limit is ~135. Something internal is "telling" the car to stop at that parameter.
I actually performed the same "suspended" run-up as you in a previous vehicle to check vibration in the drive-train/rotors (had the wheels/tires off - rotors torqued on). Main thing is to ensure vehicle weight is on the lower control arm to ensure you keep the axle geometry as close to ride height as possible. Otherwise your CV joints take a hell of a beating.
Anyway, I only spun her up to 80'ish and that was plenty for my diagnosis - and less the rotational mass of the wheels and tires. Like you, I had the vehicle as secure as possible but like others here, when I read you turning it to 130'ish I too had the vision (same during my performance) of the car dropping and launching. :-)

I love how getting to 150mph is SO important to TL-S owners.
Do you really need to exceed speeds over 134mph? I am baffled that you are willing to spend money on removing your limiter when in reality you'll be going these speeds once in a blue moon?
I hate being a negative nancy, but seriously ... the consequences for getting caught doing 100+ are insane .. let alone 134mph ... let alone 150mph.
I suggest you put your research to something different.

Also you must not have read the entire thread because I have answered this before. I mean is there a need to exceed 75mph? Is there a need to own a home? Is there a need to drink anything other than water for the rest of your life? The answer is no. But I still want to. If that doesn't explain it to you then I'm going to stop trying. So anyone who has exceeded 75mph shouldn't say anything. Pot meet kettle kettle say hi to pot.

But back on topic, no one from the west coast can go by and see what these guys have to say at UniChip?

Clearly, there's a much bigger difference between breaking the speed limit by 10mph rather than 70mph.
If my car was limited to 120mph, I would be quite comfortable with that ...
There really isn't a need to go faster than 100mph, unless you want to compensate for your penis size or something.

Anyways just to get you to shut up and leave this thread already I'll agree with you. There is no need to go faster than what Tyler thinks is acceptable. I have a small pecker and Tyler is more of a man than I'll ever be with my wanting to go fast. Boo hooo I think I'll go masterbate and use my tears as lube.

Post 100...Yeah, I tried that. But my rotational mass on the tires wasn’t calculated correctly, this caused the guide arm spooler to give false readings to the PCM controller. In short, my sassafras broke and the car only made it to 126.565
Next time I try it I’ll make sure the stop-hooks are tight enough so when the roller spools up I can reach maximum efficient peak performance so the top speed can be reached and noted

every car can achieve a high velocity, the difference is in acceleration.
I have TLS/AT, and I don't really care that I can't do 150mph, I'm just as happy doing 100. I'm not in a rush to kill myself or anyone else on the public roads.
BUT, I'm wondering, if I go to my boys shop, he has that inspection machine, where you put the car on, and accelerate......do you think this thing can handle 130+mph test? (Flying like a bullet out of his shop into an incoming traffic is not an option, lol)

LOL, sarcasm is lost.
Yes they are expensive, I think they are also connected to a video cam.
Ok Don, let's say you ultimately find out that your car can't got over 135 mph, what do you intend on doing?

Ok called up HKS and got some bad news. They say most likely it would not work on our cars due to it being a possible CAN bus system. And that the SLD are designed for older cars. So again probably have to go a different route.
