So today as i was getting on I5 a Blue 2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx (the wagon model) SS decides to pass me. We both gun it at around 35 mph (SS mode-low 2nd gear-not good) but I still manage to put a car and a half on him by the time we hit 80. We both had one passenger. The dude decides to tailgate me all the way to my exit (13 miles) I didn't pay attention to him but still... Dont those things have like a 3.9L V6?

 

I think the SS mali's are 305hp V8's but I could be wrong...........

 

Yeah the SS is a 3.9L V6 4AT. On dragtimes.com they have a Malibu Maxx SS running 15.3@91MPH stock. I remember in the comparison against the Altima SE-R, Camry SE and Galant Ralliart it got smoked by all 3! Nice Kill bro!

impala ss is trash too...some guy wit his buddy had a 2007 wit loud pipes all lookin my car gunnin his engine so u know i had to dog his ass off the line then whole way to 110..too easy

the old malibus are pretty sweet even tho it has a sweet name lol

 

Thank you. After I raced him and he came up on my tail quick, I kind of got the thought of him being a COP! I dont know why, I know cops dont drive malibus. We got couple of police chargers running around. But I still got scared for a minute lol. He's windows were probably like 5% around because I couldn't make out who was in it, I could just see two people.

 

I could see why you were scared! We have police impalas and chargers(like where your at) and you never know who is a cop and who isn't now adays!

yep... Here we also have undercover suv's like Tahoe's, Explorer's, Expeditions and if you believe it or not but there is also an Escalade

 

15.3? I would have thought they would run a lil closer to my car since it also has 240hp. Do they still make Malibu SS anymore? One was trying to get me to race about two months ago. I didnt bite because I thought it would be a waste of gas and the 1/4 mile time proves it.

Check out how tall 2nd gear is, pulls all the way to 84mph...if it had 5AT (or even 6), I'd imagine it could run a bit faster, probably 15.1?

 

They look faster than they really are. Like IFORYOU said they only have a 4AT with a very tall 2nd gear which doesn't help the acceleration process. Pontiac used the 3.9L in the 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP w/ a 6MT and that was decently quick. Ive heard of those guys running 14.6 stock. Now they make the 3.6L GXP with the 6AT(thats what the new 08 Malibu has). Next time you find a Malibu SS or Malibu Maxx SS go for it!

I raced one back couple months ago. My friend's 06 Maxima AT was also racing from light.
Did SS shifting but should have gate shifted as it kicked out of 1st too early. With SS I shifted too early as well. The Max beat me, and the Malibu was no slouch.

 

You think that's crazy, I've actually come across a Nissan Altima, Pontiac G6, and a Malibu too. Now I'm paranoid of any car with dark tinted windows on the road. One of these days I'll probably end up being pulled over by an Altima.

 

werd... I've never seen an undercover import on the road but I bet there are some out there. At last year's car show there was an 06 Legend GT. Looked like an ordinary car with dark tint and the license plates weren't (xmt or wsp). gotta watch out...
