TL-S Performance Statistics

Does anyone know what they are? I've even tried Googling for the numbers, but all I get are paragraph upon paragraph of subjective reviews, and no one seems to have hard numbers of what the car actually does, performance-wise.

Would really appreciate it if someone could post them up (ideally from a reputable source).

0-60 mph = _____ seconds
0-100 mph = _____ seconds
1/4 mile = _____ seconds @ _____ mph
Top speed = _____ mph
80-0 mph = _____ feet
60-0 mph = _____ feet
Fuel economy (mpg) = _____ city/_____ hwy

Thanks, folks.

Oh, almost forgot, if anyone's ever put their Type S on a dyno, I'd love to know what the whp is on them if possible.

Now if someone would be kind enough to post the acceleration and braking stats, that would be great.

Ah, perfect! Much obliged.

Those are very respectable numbers. It's no wonder everytime I see one on the road, the driver is invariably sporting a great big grin on his face.

top speed on a type s isnt 150 its like 130 or soo...i forget, but there was a big deal on this because the standard tl was like 150 or 155, and when the type s came out with the rl engine, there was something that restricted the topspeed....

Depends.

6MT is near 150 (145, 147 somewhere in there).

5AT is 130-ish. Theory is it is governed same as the RL; related to the TL-S Auto using a version of the RL tranny.

I think it was the TLs automatic that was limited to maybe 135 while the 6 spd was in the higher range.

So, without the limiter, how fast are we talking? BMW 155Mph speeds, or just about 10-15 extra miles?

Governed at 152. Too many factors to determine top speed, but on paper given the gear ratios at 6200 in 5th would be 140 and in 6th would be 178, but the TL just wouldn't have the power to even come close to that number.

Hmm. I guess even with everyone's mods, those numbers are probably still a bit out of reach. Has anyone thought to remove the governor, or have all of us just left it intact?

Are you sure it is 130? I don't remember a speed limiter.

As for the speed limiter, I know for a fact that my own 5at type-s is limited at 134.

I had a shop jokingly suggest that and said they would attempt it if I was willing to lose a car in the process.

I also think it's important to mention that these numbers are for the 6-speed type-s. The auto is a little slower.

Finally some good news for the 5AT Type S. I mean I've never taken my car over 100mph but knowing it can do over 140mph and possibly 150mph is good news just in case I ever do.

^Honestly, it was pretty scary, it wasnt the best road to do it on, actually it was a bridge lol. the car definitely did not feel solid at all. it was alittle shaky. i'd say after 125-130 is when it startin going bad

I'll bet you $50 that your car is limited at 134 like mine

Almost in that same boat. I've done 115, but I cut it off after that. Not quite used to my TL picking up that much speed that fast.

Betting won't get me to go over 100mph in my car b/c it's pointless. I've seen ppl topping their 5AT TLS's at 13x mph. Now there are two members that say they've done more than 14x mph. So maybe, juuuussstttt maybe, some 5AT can do over the 13x mph. Unless those ppl who claim to have gone higher are lying. As for mine, we'll never know....for now LOL.

^i'm 100% sure that ive done 140mph, thats why this limiter business at 130 confuses me. honestly though, it is something that i will never try again - the risks are not worth it. i made the mistake once and i have learned from it. im satisfied with the fact that my car can go 80mph, putting a limiter at 85 or 155 will make absolutely no difference to me.

I remember doing about 120 mph (approximately 190 km/h) in my '05 TL A-Spec, and it did feel somewhat jittery. I would have thought that the Type S would have an even more beefed up suspension than the A-Spec, in order to cope with high-speed cruising.

I wonder if better aerodynamics (with more downforce, in particular) would help rid the car of those high-speed histrionics.

What I've read and what that video seems to show.

I don't have anywhere (or any reason) to find out for my self.

Quote: Why isn't the car in 5th gear?

Waste of time. 5th gear is so long it wouldn't help. He's barely in VTEC in 4th; in 5th he'd be WAY under VTEC.

All three of you TL-S 5-speed automatics?

Doesn't matter. Question of top speed limiter applies to the Auto Type-S. All others are pretty much 100% confirmed to be in the 145 - 150-ish range.

Yes bearcat my car is the 5at.

And my car felt stable at those speeds, I had no idea how fast I was going because my eyes were on the road. I was definitely doing 130+ and again this was when it was stock.

anyone know the 0-60 time for Type S Auto?

I know the 05 TL Auto could do it in like 6.7 sec so I am guessing the Type S can do it in around 6.3 to 6.4 sec?

I ask b/c my Bro sometimes pokes fun at me that his 07 Camry is faster 0-60 then my Type S. He's prob right b/c Toyota does make one of the best 6 Speed autos in the business (Ie. Lexus IS350).

I always jab back and say but I'd rather manuever my "slower" car around turns than your boat

I rented a 07 Camry and it felt heavy, didn't seemed as responsive as my Type S
