TL Rearwindow Spoiler

I want to add a rear window spoiler to my 06 TL.

I have no idea how this would look but i think it would be a nice look to the TL.

Has anyone tried this mod or know if there is even a seller out there that sells this.

I would appreciate it if someone can give me a picture of a TL that has this or a vendor that sells this. I looked on ebay and a few other sites but got no luck yet.

Thanks,

this is a decklid spoiler, not a rear window spoiler, or can they be used both ways?

It can be used both ways assuming it's 45 inches! Yo Still let me know what you find out from the bmw dealer.. I'm just not feeling the CF look so maybe if they have one in black I might go with that look instead

50 bucks...not bad

I think it would be a little too much, but I'd have to see it to make a real judgement

Still, could we get more pics of your car. full side profiles and the rear from an angle? Hard to see the profile of the car with the roof spoiler...

KenUA6 and St04Louis were the first on the scene to figure out the 45" lip spoiler fits well there, they have lots of pics out there if you search.

Lee,
I have the CF one on my WDP if you wanna come to Tysons and take a look at it.

Jeff has the same one, put had it color matched to DGP during the repair after his wheels got jacked.

^ what kennedy said... fully true I just emulated

in any event I will take some measurements to see if the 5 series spoiler doesnt obstruct the upper brake light

"rockyfellernyc or something" lol! As said I am not credited with doing the roof spoiler first. I was perhaps the first one to buy the carbon fiber one, thats all.

Yeah I have a thread with mutiple pics, please search the threads. I wasn't prepared to really like it, I took a chance. Now? I really love the way it looks and I'm glad I did it!! I find that the best color to do the carbon fiber color is anthracite. It just blends in PERFECTLY and dosen't look out of place at all.

As for cross-referencing the 5-Series roof spoiler, I'd be cautious there. I know for a fact that there are a number of options out there for specifically designed roof spoilers for the 5-series. They may be the correct width of 45" but are they flexible? The rear glass is curved on the TL and a fiberglass or polyurethane inflexible spoiler won't work. You need something flexible like the Ebay spoiler we have so you can conform it to the curve of the upper part of the window.

I looked at the LED spoiler too but as said it would look crazy stupid on the car with 2 rows of brake LEDs!

It looks like it is a bit wider then the ones previous members have bought with other lip spoilers. I was going to actually get that. How do we find out if it is indeed the same one? Because I dont want to pay 2x as much.

I say don't risk it and experiment with the 5 series one instead, I am going to look for one made of flexible type material

what do you use for the adhesive if it doesn't have a strip/glue? basically what would keep it secured best?

Wash the surfaces properly, finish off with some isopropyl alcohol and make sure it is completely clean. 3M heavy duty outdoor grade double-sided tape at a temperature above 60 degrees will do it. I use a hair dryer a little to help me out. Keep it out of the cold as much as possible and don't get the area wet for a couple days and you're good to go.

thanks

any precautions for the abs plasitc one that is not that flexable?when I test fitted mine, it's gapped. You can see it raised, just force it down during install?heat it up first? the fit is about dead on,maybe 1/2 inch off but if it was flush against back window I think that space would be eliminated.....
