I don't know how most dealers are right now but the one i went to for the Acura TL launch party laughed at the tought of selling it under msrp....but i'm determined to get it under msrp. Even $500 helps....but wishing for $1,000 off. I'm thinking about making my purchase in mid december.

Not in my area. There are only 3 dealers in all of Metro Detroit. And in a town where everyone and their brother gets a , GM, Ford or Chrysler Group discount. Imports (I know, don't say it) are few and far between. So they can pretty much wait you out. If you want it, you'll be back, and you'll pay what they ask.

Same here in Cleveland. There's one dealer in the Cleveland area, one nearby in Akron, and a second Cleveland-area dealership is due to open next year. Less than MSRP? Yeah, right! Luckily, the car is worth more than MSRP.

Maybe in So Cal where Acura dealers are a dime a dozen, you can find a deal.

Imports are pretty frequent here, in comparison to Detroit, despite the number of domestic car plants here. My colleagues who buy American tend to buy SUVs.

What's included in the "decor package"?

Marweeee,

What dealership did you buy from?

I've seen a lot of variation on what the dealers are adding onto a car to increase their profit. On dealer here is putting those tire valve stem pressure gauges as part of their "package".

Ugh! Why must they play these games with us? Glorified car wax for $400, overpriced accessories, window tint at twice the price, pin stripes that the salesman applied from a roll for $200.

I don't mind paying for some extras since I know I can get a deal on them and I can't get a deal on the actual car. If I ever get hit by someone I know I can take the car back to the dealer and have the paint, rustproofing, tinting etc all fixed and warranted at the same place without running around from shop to shop. Too much time wasted chasing around for a few bucks for me at least. I would guess it might help trade in too and there is never a question of doing something that "voids the manufacturer's warranty", if you have it all done at the "manufacturer".

I checked three neighboring states, and no deals off of the MSRP. However, I put a deposit down & will buy because even at $33k it's a pretty good deal. The Volvo T-5 was my second choice if I couldn't find the TL in one of my top colors, but that car took lots of incentives to get it down to a competitive price. I'd rather buy a car that's set in price that represents a good value & doesn't have the price diluted by incentives.

Unhappy warranty

Why does Acura USA give a 4year Bumber to bumber warranty vs, Acura Canada a 3 year Bumber to bumber

I just got a quote from 1 of the 4 dealers close to me. 36500. Red 04 with nav.. They must be doing some serious business over there to start the price almost 2k over msrp. On to the next dealer.

Why would any dealer discount a car thats been out for only a month, and which they can presently sell everyone they bring in?Discounting isnt going to happen until the initial demand tapers off and dealer inventory starts to build(maybe in 6mos.)This happens with virtually every new car model since the dealers know that the first kids on the block will pay almost anything.

Got a call today from Acura dealer offering me the car for $32,200.
That's purchase or lease.
3.9% financing.
Lease would be 36 months @ $432 per
or
42 months @ $396 per.
Both with tax paid (8 1/4%) up front and a 12k lease.

Think I'm gonna go see them on Monday and go for the 42 month lease.
He said the car that I want would be in about the third week of November.

Now, I just have to hope that there are no surprises waiting for me when I visit the dealer.
Any BS and I walk. . .

Because I have an 04 TSX and an 03 CLS-6 and maybe the dealer wants my business. I will get an 04 TL loaded for $1000 below MSRP or it's hello G35 coupe.

For $1,000 do you think you can really live with the G35's interior? I found it really cheap looking.

There's gotta be more coming. You should expect BTW $1,000 and $1,550 out of pocket up front cost' I would think.

That's what they want you to think Quincy!
I went to see the car in early October. I was told that the dealer had 32 TLs coming in thru November and that 27 of them were spoken for.
I told them to call me when they start dealing.
He has called me twice since. The lower interest rates got my attention.

They try to create their own shortage.
As long as we believe it, we're willing to pay more.
They know that they can only get away with this for a little while.

Every once in a while the shortage is real.
See the TSX!

By next month, I think the TL will be very easy to find. . .

I hope not! I already told them that I would put the sales tax up front. That's enough for me!

I ordered my 6 spd w/nav and regular tires for $34,195 shipped!!
That included the $545 destination fee. They tacked on $125 for doc. fees and $65 for plate swap and inspection. This was from Acura of Peabody, MA . It will be built 11/10/03 and hopefully I'll have it by the end of the month.....

I was offered a similar deal - but with 15,000 miles per year.

42 months @ 3.9% or $430/month

Apparently, this program is only a few days old.
